SAMMY HAGAR Talks Tequila; Video Available - May 29, 2008
Drinksville.com has posted a two-minute video interview with Sammy Hagar in which he talks about his Cabo Wabo brand of tequila. Watch it at this location.

Sammy Hagar made Forbes magazine's list of Top 20 Paydays of 2007 for the entertainment industry after he added $80 million to his bank account when he sold 80% of his tequila company Cabo Wabo to Gruppo Campari. The company has an option to buy the remaining 20% over the next five to eight years.

Sammy Hagar recently started a new "supergroup" with ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith. The band, tentatively called CHICKENFOOT, will enter the studio to begin recording its debut album this summer.

Hagar spoke about the project in a recent interview, explaining, "We've written eight, nine songs...When people hear the music, it's LED ZEPPELIN. It's as good as that. I know that's a mighty bold statement...We could rival ZEP."

Hagar sang with VAN HALEN from 1986 to 1996, and again on a 2004 reunion tour, but left both times after feuding with guitarist Eddie Van Halen. Hagar said recently about his relationship with the troubled guitar hero, "I love Eddie, but we don't love each other. I heard that he got cleaned up again. Hopefully he stays that way and doesn't die, because before we both die we have to be friends again."

You don't need salt or lime when you drink fine tequila.

But give the guy his due. Cabo Wabo is damn fine tequila. The ultra-Premium tequila players out there age and blend their stuff to the point where there is practically no bite.

No bite - no tequila

I hope to God the people that shelled out 40 Mil for the name don't ruin this stuff.

Cabo is the only tequila or hard liquor I've ever been able to really drink straight and enjoy, besides the almighty Boru vodka and Jameson. But $70 for not even a fifth? Nah, I'll pass. I'll stick with Schlitz and save my money.
