KORN To Enter Studio In November - May 30, 2008
KORN is scheduled to enter the studio in November with producer Ross Robinson, the man behind the group's self-titled 1994 debut and 1996's sophomore effort, "Life is Peachy", to begin recording its new album. An early 2009 release is expected.

A new 26-minute audio interview with KORN frontman Jonathan Davis in which he talks about the group's upcoming recording plans, his desire to eventually work with former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch again, how he may never again share the stage with former KORN drummer David Silveria, the progress he's making on his first solo album and his upcoming collaboration with Clive Barker is available for download from Headbanger's Blog (MP3 file; 18 MB).

Davis said during an online chat at Korn Korner, the band's official chat room, earlier in the month that former guitarist Welch is "not ready" to return to the band yet. Addressing recent rumors that the original KORN lineup would reunite later this year, Davis wrote, "Head doesn't want to come back yet. I miss him sooooo fuckin' bad, but I don't think he is ready to be put back in the element he ran from. Drugs are everywhere, and I think he's not ready to be around it yet. I think (Reginald) 'Fieldy' (Arvizu, bassist) can help him a lot because he's Christian (too) and sober and does fine."

Welch left the band in early 2005 to devote his life to Christianity.

As for Silveria, who departed the group in late 2006 on an "indefinite hiatus," Davis wrote, "Now David, I don't know what's gonna happen there. I just think he is done with music; it not his passion anymore. It sucks, but hey, he has to be happy, right?"

Davis indicated that KORN is "very happy" with current touring drummer Ray Luzier, adding "One day you will see Head up there with us, I hope."

KORN has used a series of temporary guitarists and drummers since the original members departed, with Luzier and guitarist Shane Gibson playing on the group's most recent tours.

They need to go back to the basics instead of polishing everything with pro tools.

I don't think I have wished a band to NOT enter the studio. At least take a slight break from putting an album out every 6 months to a year.

Yeah but wasnt fieldy the guy that told Head before he left Korn that people were gonna laugh at him. Head said God Won't, well what kind of help would Fieldy give then.

The studio had to brace for the black hole-esque suck that is Korn.

I'm he first one to admit I really loved this band!! I'm past over them now, specially with the last two horrible releases. But I've been posting this for years now, that they should go back to Ross producing a new album!! So, I will definetly buy the new one!! Hope it takes me back to the days of the S/T.

Oh, and most of you fuckers who were alive in '94 (and old enough to remember) ALL loved that first album, so don't pretend.

Same for me, except for the fact that I actually liked See you on yhe other side, but the untitled one... well... let's just call it a mistake. Can't wait what Robinson can bring to that sinking ship.

Haters don't get me wrong, I also like Opeth, Kreator, M. Crue, Alice in Chains, Venom, Slayer, Ministry and the list goes on, that's called open minded...

....who cares if they are "cool" or not...fuck. I want good music, I could give two shits whether or not korn is viewed as being "cool"

If they make a record I'm into, which It has been awhile since I've bought their albums, I will be right up in front row when they tour to support it.

Ross, John, Munk and fieldy being joined by a drummer like Ray with some fucking passion may be the line up they've needed for the last few albums. I've got alot more confidence in this one than the Metallica or Gn'R albums. Bring back the old energy Ross! Please!

The haters are all the same and the funny thing is none of them know the first thing about Korn's music.

It is great that people say no one cares about Korn, yet every record goes platinum and they sell out shows all over, but obviously less people care about them bands that sell like 30,000 albums and maybe get a few hundred at a show. If you don't like them fine, but use common sense.

Hopefully the new album is more like the self titled, Life is peachy, Follow the Leader.....
