PEARL JAM Guitarist Wants To Jam With JACK WHITE - June 4, 2008
The Pulse of Radio reports: PEARL JAM guitarist Mike McCready recently told reporters on a teleconference call that the band won't be premiering any new material during its upcoming performance at Tennessee's Bonnaroo Festival, but McCready was open to the idea of being joined onstage by one of the other performers at the event. Asked whom he himself would like to jam with, McCready had one person in mind: "I'd love to have Jack White up. I just, I think he's just a phenomenal guitar player and I'd love to see him play up close. I've seen THE WHITE STRIPES in Europe, but it was kind of far away. But I'd love to have him up there and jam because he's got a killer voice and he's a great lead player too. So that would be exciting to me."

PEARL JAM will be performing at Bonnaroo along with METALLICA, JACK JOHNSON, Jack White's band the RACONTEURS, DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, KANYE WEST, WIDESPREAD PANIC and dozens of others.

The Manchester, Tennessee event takes place from Thursday, June 12 to Sunday, June 15. PEARL JAM will play on Saturday night (June 14).

The show is part of a three-week U.S. tour for PEARL JAM that begins on June 11 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Following the tour's end on June 30, the group will play a benefit concert on July 1 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. Proceeds will go to the Robin Hood organization, which fights to alleviate poverty in New York City.

That Republican shit's pretty funny. Ha. Seriously, though, I hate The White Stripes. The Raconteurs are cool simply because Jack White isn't the only person contributing - he doesn't write the lyrics. I know that from an interview they gave on my college radio station where I am a DJ.

Yes, McCready and Jack White together would surely make metal history.

Before I clicked on this story I totally thought it said he wanted to jam with GREAT White. LOL

Anyhoo, I don't really consider Jack White a musician so much as an "artist." Some of his music is intriguing, but not sure he'd be great to "jam" with. Neither of those statements is meant to be a slag on him either, really I'm complimenting him if anything. You can learn to be a musician, not so sure you can really learn how to be an "artist" - let alone an interesting one.

i like Mike's side projects...... Temple of the Dog and Mad Season. Other than TEN, I have not really been much of a Pear Jam fan. White Stripes...... I haven't really given them a chance.

Never cared much for the White Stripes (the "singing" gets grating after half a song) and rather ambivalent about the Raconteurs but I can actually see this collaboration working. But probably mostly because Mike McCready's a part of it and Pearl Jam have been overdue for some fresh influences in their music lately.
