MACHINE HEAD Covers IRON MAIDEN's 'Hallowed Be Thy Name'; Video Available - June 8, 2008
Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD performed a cover version of the IRON MAIDEN classic "Hallowed Be Thy Name" at the Rock in Rio festival on June 5, 2008 in Lisbon, Portugal. Video footage of the performance can be viewed below.

MACHINE HEAD recently recorded a studio version of "Hallowed Be Thy Name" for the upcoming "Maiden Heaven" tribute CD which will be given away with the UK magazine Kerrang! Also scheduled to appear on this CD is the progressive-metal band DREAM THEATER with its cover of the MAIDEN classic "To Tame a Land".

The complete track listing and details for this release are expected to be revelaed later this month.

the singing wasn't bad but the cover lost the magic of the original. could be the shitty sound quality here means i can't hear any bass. A Maiden song without a bass is like a pussy without a hole.

cheers.

Its hard to believe MH would get that type of response with one of their own songs. One of the greatest Maiden songs!

They ruined a maiden classic and Rob Flynn has no business singing this song. If you wanna hear a proper cover of this song check out Iced Earth's version.

And my response to that is, F*CK YOU jam008! Having seen both of these bands live, I can honestly say Machine Head DESTROY Maiden handedly.

As far as my taste in music, I'd have to say I got a pretty good variety in my collection. I'm not going to sit here and list it all for your punk ass, so we'll just leave it at that. Again...

MACHINE HEAD > Maiden

Have seen both Maiden and Machine Head live and they are both awesome. I do agree with with one of the other people that commented Sorry i forgot how they were, but Iced earth does a nice job on the remake too..

Of doing a cover song is butchering the fuck out of it.

The Godfathers of Modern Metal doing a Iron Maiden song, ha ha yikes man !!!!!!!

Best butchered song of all time was the Dark Angel's butchery of Led Zepplin's " Immigarant Song".

Tradational Metal and Modern Metal do not mix very well since one idea was a backlash against the other.

Did everyone forget the reason every Modern Metal and nu-metaller started to down-tune in the first place ????

Machine had two really SHITTY albums (The Burning Crap and Supershitter) but everything else is pretty good.

And Iron Maiden DESTROY Machine Head, unless you think good music's all about having " a big muthafuckin' pit dood" and "lotza groove".

I didn't realise that Robb doesn't classify himself as a lead player. I was pretty sure that Machine Haad counted as a dual lead guitar band, especially judging by clenching the fists of dissent and aesthetics of hate where phil and robb trade solos. Maybe he was just putting himself down.

Not the best but far from the worst cover of a Maiden song I've heard. Actually, the vocals faired much better than the music, which is NOT what I was expecting at all. I do love Machine Head though. Not as much as Maiden but shit man...good band and the Blackening was amazing. Possibly their best album.

Maiden don't destroy The Head and The Head doesn't destroy Maiden. This is Metal, fuckers, METAL! We're all in this together. I DO think we shouldn't argue which of those two AMAZING bands is the better one.

I think we should fight people who think that Trivium would destroy the Head - THAT is something to argue about, people.

by the way: it should be clear that Rob Flynn is not capable of singing Dickinson's tunes - imagine it the other way round: Dickinson singing "Imperium"... HAHAHAHAHA!

My Answer- Machine Head= BANDWAGON JUMPERS. Now that Maiden and trad metal's cool again, "yeah man we like maiden lets do a cover" even though I read an interview with Rob Flynn circa 1995 "Man metal doesnt always have to be Saxon or some shit, I don't like that stuff too much anymore"" or something like that not an exact quote. It just pisses me off when there were guys like this dissing maiden back in the nineties. Whats next- Korn covering Accept? Metallica trying to play thrash again- oh wait, thats happening.
