EXTREME: New Album Release Date, Track Listing Revealed - June 9, 2008
This summer, reunited Boston hard rockers EXTREME will release "Saudades de Rock" (pronounced "sow-dodge"), their first studio album in thirteen years which will coincide with their first world tour in over twelve years. "Saudades de Rock" will be released on August 12 on Open E Records and distributed by Fontana.

The iconic rock foursome — vocalist Gary Cherone, guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, bassist Pat Badger and new drummer Kevin Figueiredo — recorded their fifth studio offering at NRG Studios in Los Angeles with Bettencourt at the helm as producer and mixer. "Saudades de Rock" boasts 13 tracks, including the infectious roar of "Star", the groove-laden, swagger of "King Of The Ladies", a raw funk rock anthem called "Learn To Love", and the expressive ballad "Ghost".

"'Saudades' was always a beautiful word to me," Bettencourt explains about the Portuguese album moniker. "It expresses a longing; an underlying sadness for something or someone that's been missing in your life, and never quite sure if it will ever return. In this case, for us, it's rock and roll. Saudades de Rock."

Gary Cherone adds, "I like how it expresses that longing we've been feeling to play for our fans and be together again."

"Saudades de Rock" track listing:

01. Star
02. Comfortably Dumb
03. Learn To Love

Extreme were a great band. This is probably a cash-grab but I'll get it and see them when they come around. Gary's a good frontman and Nuno can shred.

should be a pretty good cd and a great show!

this isn't a cash grab... they've held out for a long time from just doing a reunion show/tour... they really wanted to wait until they had new music to tour behind, and this is it...

have you even heard a full album by these guys? sure the vocals r kinda poppish, but the music is not. the music is actually heavy and riffy. nuno can tear it up with the best of them...he is pure guitar god.

Terrible Band, they should never have come back. They will sell no more then 100 tickets at each show. I would rather watch paint dry.

Who cares? KISS is playing to sold out stadiums after 35 years, must suck to be them ey?! You will see the next Extreme CD in the bargain bins within a week. Have fun buying them all up, I am sure you will make a killing re-selling them on ebay!

According to everybody on here, they would rather keep their integrity & not make any money & be miserable. It is called the music business for a reason, when a business makes no money, it closes it's doors. Noboby works for free.

It comes out on my birthday! Thanks, Extreme.

These guys are very underrated. 3 Sides To Every Story was a brilliant, epic album that had very little in common with hair-bands.

KISS rules - you my friend are almost as CLASSIC as KISS' 35 years of "selling out stadiums"---and then you (& GENE $IMMON$ woke up!!). THe only place they are selling out stadiums is in Europe and Aus. where they haven't played for a while, over 10 years in many spots---hence, EVERYONE rushing out to see them before KISS 2 happens (if it does, hopefully not) with a bunch of no-name idiot losers.

and you think 100 or so people will be at their shows? maybe they won't sell out arenas or "STADIUMS", but they will have plenty of fans who actually enjoy Real Musicians playing more than 3-4 chords with the basic 4/4 beats (and I am a Kiss fan, I just know Easy chord progressions/leads when I hear it---though, Ace was talented when he wasn't drunk, Peter used to be, and Bruce is/was, as is the latest hired guns, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer. Eric Carr was a really good drummer and decent singer. Too bad cancer took him away--met him once, great guy, no ROCK STAR entourage or EGO of any sort.)

Great news. All those songs read like perfect Extreme songs. should be a truly great rock n roll album, perhaps one of the best of this decade. looking forward to it and seeing them live.

as to all the naysayers, if you don't like what you see here -
Get The Funk Out! go ahead and play More Than Words and Hole Hearted and let real fans play their nasty, edgy, hard rock n roll.

...with its very talented musicians than any of extreme (the style) metal bands with their almost always limited throat-growlers, string-strikers, kick-pedallers that think Metal and noise are the same thing...

A new album with a new drummer is worth listening. Paul Geary was too weak for this band. Nuno is a guitar virtuoso, just like Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen and Vito Bratta. From a musician standpoint, bands like Extreme or White Lion were cool to listen to. From a music fan standpoint, I acknowledge that bands like Motley Crue and Guns N Roses are far more exciting.

They should go back to Eb tuning though. Tuned down to D (or even lower?) More Than Words sounds like an old 45 played at 33 rpm.

I have my ticket for the NYC show!!...pretty psyched. It's a great bill Extreme and King's X. I'm looking forward to the new album and the show. But why is King's X opening for them in NYC? With all do respect it should be other way around.

To all the Nuno haters............ Let's see you pull off "He-Man Woman Hater" on guitar, big guy.
This definitely isn't a cash grab, considering the amount of endorsement deals Nuno has.
