During this past weekend's (June 7) edition of "Camp Freddy Radio" — the weekly radio show on Los Angeles' Indie 103.1 station hosted by members of the "jam" supergroup CAMP FREDDY — co-hosts Matt Sorum ( VELVET REVOLVER/ex- GUNS N' ROSES drummer) and Dave Navarro (ex- JANE'S ADDICTION/ RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist) discussed VELVET REVOLVER's search for a new frontman following the recent departure of Scott Weiland. An excerpt from the discussion follows. Navarro: Did Perry Farrell [ex- JANE'S ADDICTION] come up as an option [for the new VELVET REVOLVER singer]? Sorum: Someone mentioned it to me. You go on Blabbermouth… Navarro: Yeah, yeah, yeah… Don't read those comments, by the way. Sorum: The people there on Blabbermouth… What is wrong with them? Navarro: Dude, welcome to my life, by the way. Sorum: Do you get on there and read that? Navarro: No, not anymore. Sorum: My old lady, she makes me shut that stuff off. Some mean, mean, weird people are on there. Navarro: Yeah, it's horrible. Sorum: What are they doing out there? Navarro: Nothing. I'll tell you what they're not doing, Matt. They're not making records and selling millions of them and affecting the lives— [gets cut off by Matt] Sorum: [Raising his voice] Yeah, talk about that on Blabbermouth! Navarro: —affecting the lives of millions of people like you. So don't listen to them because they're NOT doing that, I guarantee you. Sorum: Yeah. When me and Weiland got into that pissing match a little bit… Navarro: Were there sides? Did people take sides? Sorum: Oooo… Oh, God… Navarro: Were people against you? Sorum: Oh, man… Navarro: Really? Sorum: I got on there one night and started scrolling down… Navarro: Oh, don't scroll down. [ Matt bursts out laughing.] Read the story and call it a day. Trust me. Sorum: And it sort of… like those bad reality shows, it sucked me in. Navarro: No scrolling, please. [Laughs] Sorum: I've gotta say it to you, people, man… You didn't affect me at all. Screw you. I'm a fan of music who has enough self confidence to not pointlessly ridicule ever single story and artist that passes through this board.
It's clearly more than apparent that aside from the occassional poster who will discuss a said subject matter in some sort of objective and productive way or in at least a non defamatory way, that this board is littered with people who are so jaded, jealous, full of self loathing, full of self pity, and self hate.
Older? Yes. Love metal? Well, what I consider good metal + many other styles of music as well. Fat? no. Scrawny? no. Young? no. Self righteous or all knowing? no. There is so much that I don't knwo and more than willing to admit. A coward? never. Any fight I have been in(in defense that is), it has always been more guys against me.
Is this post pointless, and my laughing at the inane postings pointless? perhaps it is.......but....you people should really try to be more positive than negative.....it won't get you anywhere......at least apply your negative viewpoint in some sort of productive manner.....
but then again.....this place does make good comedy at times.....

I very rarely post here. It's pointless and I really didn't think anyone read it. But 2 people who think they are better than anyone else, who put themselves in the public and then cry when it isn't a bunch of people kissing their asses like they're used to is laughable. Of all the bands that people on blabbermouth hate or bitch about you would think some of these bands didn't have any fans. When I go out to shows and the place is packed. I realize these people on here are the minority. As always the minority voice is louder. More people come on here just to bitch and moan about why their band isn't mentioned more, when if their band was they would instantly hate them because someone else recognized their existence. I only come on here to start shit with people, like I said before messageboards exist for this reason. I mean who would post a comment just for the hell of it? We all post comments to get a reaction out of people. So my reaction was to call you an idiot to think that bands shoud care about what people say about them and you probably aren't. I just stated you are and idiot for making that comment. that's my opinion on your opinion. It's not the end of the world, it's freedom of speech. When bands go out and tour and see and people in the crowd singing their songs back to them, starting pits and enjoying themselves, they know that people's opinions don't mean shit, if they were to read them. That's my opinion and I expect a reaction from people in regards to this post. THAT'S WHY I AM TYPING IT! I don't post to try and change people's opinions, I post to get a rise out of people, to get a reaction. Like I said to start shit. I love receiving and much as love dishing it out. Blabbermouth is kind of funny, actually bands have the diehard fans who ignore opinions from the detractors.
I find it funny that people know every detail of bands that they hate, but can not find music that falls in the range of the sub-genre and genre they are a part off.
It is hilarious people claim they hate this band and that band, but when I wear those bands t-shirts in public, those detractors are nice as can be.
Myself if there is a band i do not like, and someone in the record store ask me if I like that band, I just simply say " I do not listen to that kind of music"
Blabbermouth is kind of helpful sometimes, because people who can keep the the message content on the subject matter of music, can point of release dates of albums and the most likely distro to find that release.; And similar like-minded bands.
