LINKIN PARK's BENNINGTON: I Am Not VELVET REVOLVER's New Singer
- June 16, 2008
|
|
LINKIN PARK frontman Chester Bennington has dismissed rumors that he has been tapped to replace Scott Weiland as the new singer of VELVET REVOLVER. In an exclusive interview for this week's Kerrang! magazine, Bennington said, "I'm friends with all the guys in VELVET REVOLVER and have played with all of them before. I'm friends with Scott too. I think the rumour that I was going to join VELVET REVOLVER started because Slash asked me if I'd come play a show with them in Vegas right around the time that Scott left the band. Timing-wise, it didn't work out for me, though. Maybe people assumed that invitation meant I was joining the band." "It would be very uncomfortable for me to join that band because I'm friends with all of them, including Scott," Bennington continues. "If I was even going to do just one show, or record just one song with them, I'd have to know it was okay with my band, all those guys and Scott too. That said, if Bennington didn't have prior commitments or wasn't friends with all parties, he'd jump at the chance: "If I wasn't in LINKIN PARK anymore and I didn't know Scott, though, I'd say yes," he says. "Who wouldn't? The music is great and it would be a really cool opportunity."

VV should choose someone who would make them sound better and write something fesh, but sure bennington is not the right guy, he represent the idea of a rock frontman of my grandma's hairdresser!

Awesome. I'm very excited about this breaking news, and I am looking forward to them not making any music together in the future.
Also - I know lots of people disagree, but I think they should've gotten Sebastian Bach from day one. Who cares if you're friendly with Axl, man... YOU'D be the one playing with the REAL Guns N' Roses band members. That would put you on top.
P.S. Bring back John Bush.

Phil Anselmo is the only option that makes sense. Anselmo is an ass but he also puts asses in seats. You can't buy publicity like that, baby!

...I'll say it again: if they persist in a)staying together as VR (a bit dubious since Slash is doing a solo album and, let's face it, who would much care if they didn't), b)not hiring Seb and c)not reforming GNR, then the logical choice is John Corabi. He can sing, play, write... hell, the guy would probably do their fucking laundry for a second shot at the big time. Plus he's a talented dude who deserves beter than to be remembered only for one Motley album (which was actually one of their best)
I can't imagine who would ever have thought that Chester would even be worth starting this rumour about. Nothing against LP, but stylistically it makes about as much sense as Leona Lewis joining Nine Inch Nails (admittedly that's a combination I'd pay to see)

There's a video floating around YouTube with Chester singing "Paradise City" with Camp Freddy. I was quite surprised, he did a great job.
That being said, I don't see this happening because he already sells shit loads of records.

Obviously there's going to be more VR. No matter that Slash and Duff are with his solo projects. They still searching a new singer.
I hope to know the name of the new singer by the end of the year or so..

Good call! Gotta love the Moggman. He could bring Pete Way with him and he and Duff could see who looks more wasted
Plus a few UFO covers would mean VR finally had some memorable songs...

even if you don't like Linkin Park's music, Chester is a beast on the mic. Bad fit for VR though, for sure. I'd love to see Bach join the band.

Anyways, a GNR band is the best option. What are they waiting for???
If they prefer keeping VR alive, they need a real rocker as a frontman. Bach is the man for the job, like it or not. Corabi would do a good job too though.
A setlist with a couple of Skid Row, GNR and VR songs would kick ass.

Alot of talks going on about the new lead singer for Velvet Revolver. There is alot of talk on the internet about an emerging artist known as Brian Phyll Miller, his vocals are second to none in my opinion. Do a search for Brian Phyll Miller on YouTube and check him out for yourself, Slash and the guys should listen to this guy, HE ROCKS!!!
