TRIVIUM: New Album Release Date Announced - June 16, 2008
Florida-based metallers TRIVIUM have set a September 30 release date through Roadrunner Records for their new album. A 46-second teaser clip for the CD, which is rumored to be titled "Shogun", can be viewed below.

TRIVIUM flew to Nashville, Tennessee on March 31 to enter the studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz (RUSH, FOO FIGHTERS, SHADOWS FALL, DEATH ANGEL) to begin recording the follow-up to 2006's "The Crusade".

"For the first time, we can't look at our songs and say who the riffs sound like," guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy told Revolver magazine about the group's new material. "We're really making our own stuff and our own kind of music and art form, and that's exciting."

TRIVIUM reportedly wrote around 40 songs last year and demoed the best 15 or so before commencing the new LP recording sessions. "When we went in, we thought, 'Hey, these songs are good enogh for the album already,' but we've overhauled almost everything," Heafy told Revolver. "Nick has encouraged us to explore so many new ideas that we never would have thought of."

In a previous interview with Revolver, TRIVIUM guitarist Corey Beaulieu stated about the upcoming CD, "We want to capture the best ingredients of everything we've done. Each song has a little bit of everything, going between something heavy and then melodic, and then back to something heavy. So it has a really interesting balance. On 'The Crusade', Matt did almost all singing, so this time we're bringing back some of the screaming that's on [2005's] 'Ascendancy'."

I'm not feeling this new shit, but to be honest I wasn't feeling the old shit. I'd much rather watch Wanderlei Silva destroy some can (Brandon Vera) than waste my time listening to second-rate watered down Testament wannabes like this... Trivium?! What the fuck does Trivium mean anyway? Is that kind of like Trivial as in "Trivium is so irrelevant they should be called Trivial?" Hahahahaha! I just made a bigtime funnies!

I'll be buying the new album, but that teaser could have been MUCH shorter and accomplished the same thing.

but Trivium's CDs are heavier(and better) than anything Metallica has done since 'Justice'.

Not sure if that says anything positive about Trivium or negative about Alternica!!!!!!!

I thought this was supposed to be released in 09?

I've actually heard this albums supposed to be coming together really nice though and sounding awesome, and not from people who are paid to say it. I really liked the crusade personally, Becoming the dragon was an awesome track, the instrumental as well.

I suppose anything can happen between now and September though.

If you don't like Trivium, why waste time reading the article and watching the clip, just to comment on how much they suck?

I'll pick this up for sure. One of the best metal bands to come out in a while, without a doubt. Amazing live show as well.

much like A7X, they showed/show a lot more potential than they've actually fulfilled. I swear A7X should have gone more toward the thrash sound after Waking the Fallen, they'd have been much better at it than Trivium.

Actually, Trivium means, "the study of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, which in medieval education formed the basis of a bachelor's degree, as opposed to the quadrivium". It's supposed to show their openness because it is the intersection between these three schools of learning. Certainly means more than Megadeth.

I'd rather toss the kind of spotlight Trivium has on bands like Hibria and Krisiun.

I hate to admit this here but Trivium and As I Lay Dying have become a bad habit to me. I really dig the latest release from AILD, and I have similiar high hopes for the new Trivium. They arn't that bad.

i use to love trivium like my favourite bands of all time before 'the crusade' came along....it wasn't a terrible album but it certainly lacked what trivium had with ember to inferno and ascendancy. They totally dropped their unique metal style which i think everyone loved with the screaming and roaring and breakdown like style which it should be. With the crusade the whole album just sounded toned down to zero and just a whole bunch of riffing like instrumentals, nothing big and catchy to the metal fans. Now all these scene kids or emo kids are listening to bands like trivium and wearing out or ruining their image and i wonder why because its not emo music for suicidal depressed children with silly fringes.......i think they discovered 'dying in your arms' which is a great track from ascendancy but it obviously fell into the wrong ears lol, please trivium let this a classic hardcore metal album with smashing riffs, breakdowns and roars that will tell these mainstream emo kids to back off....
