OZZY OSBOURNE, METALLICA, JIMI HENDRIX Sharing The Stage At Macy's Men's Department - June 19, 2008
Macy's and Rolling Stone magazine have announced the exclusive launch of a series of collectors' edition t-shirts featuring famous Rolling Stone covers to honor the legendary music magazine's strong cultural influence throughout its 40-year history. Now available at select Macy's and on macys.com, the collectors' edition shirts will feature a selection of individual covers from the Rolling Stone archives, including world-famous artists like THE BEATLES (Issue 46, November 15, 1969) and Jimi Hendrix (Issue 809, April 1, 1999).

"Rolling Stone magazine is an iconic and revolutionary brand, and its covers are among some of the country's most memorable and culturally-charged images," said Jerry Balest, Macy's vice president of Men's Fashion. "The new collection of Rolling Stone tees appeals to today's cross-channel lifestyle, bringing together the influences of fashion, music, celebrity and entertainment. Macy's is honored to be exclusively bringing back these covers in a new, wearable way."

Other covers featured include METALLICA (Issue 617, November 14, 1991), KID ROCK (Issue 843, June 22, 2000), Jim Morrison (Issue 88, August 5, 1971), Johnny Cash (Issue 933, October 16, 2003), Ozzy Osbourne (Issue 901, July 25, 2002), Kurt Cobain (Issue 683, June 2, 1994), Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg (Issue 666 September 30, 1993), THE BEASTIE BOYS (Issue 804, January 21, 1999) and Jerry Garcia (Issue 740, August 8, 1996). There will also be a selection of other tees that will feature the Rolling Stone name and graphic designs. All the Rolling Stone shirts will retail for $36. All collectors' tees will come with a redemption certificate to receive a one-year subscription to Rolling Stone.

"Rock t-shirts have never stopped being popular fashion items and Rolling Stone has always been known for its iconic covers," said Gary Armstrong, chief marketing officer of Wenner Media. "We chose Macy's, one of the most recognizable names in retail, to create t-shirts of the magazine covers that have chronicled 40 years of music's most important milestones."

I remember back in the 80's as I was in college, I looked forward to getting this magazine. Great articles and very relevant.

Now? It's just too damn political. I don't care if somebody is a Republican or Democrat.....this rag is just so Pro-Democrat. Everything just seems to have some bullshit agenda.

i went out and got the Beatles shirt yesterday. Although I hate how some of the other shirts look like tie-dye shirts. Although the magazine itself is a piece of garbage now.

Rolling Stone is as rebellious and rock as Macy's Men's Department. Because everyone knows I want to pay respect to rock heroes while I shop for overpriced suspenders and tidy whities.

i still think its funny that Rolling Stone misprinted an article about Metallica (they wrote that Kirk was an original member). Of course the editors quickly changed the mistake online as soon as everybody noticed...but the damage was already done.

if they cant get their basic facts straight about Metallica, then they shouldnt be making a shirt of them...and the fact that its sold at mens macys?? thats as un-metal as Rolling Stone itself

RS is a dinosaur music mag that seriously needs to die already.

I think it's a rip off price.

I haven't bought a band t-shirt about a decade (although a beatles t-shirt in Bangkok for $3 last year was an exception) at a live gig.

I won't buy one again probably.
Especially as record companies are writing contracts up which stipulates a % of merchandise sales goes to them....
