RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Crashing Presidential Conventions?

The Pulse of Radio reports that RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE only has one U.S. date scheduled so far in 2008, at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago's Grant Park on Saturday, August 2. But guitarist Tom Morello told The Pulse of Radio that the political rockers haven't ruled out giving a few more U.S. performances this year. "There is the possibility that we will be playing at the demonstrations surrounding the Presidential conventions," he said. "The Democrats are in Denver, the Republicans are in Minneapolis. But we're still looking into that."
The Democratic convention is scheduled for August 25 through August 28 in Denver, while the Republicans will descend on Minneapolis from September 1 to September 4.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE performed outside the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles in August of 2000, one of the group's final performances before going on a seven-year hiatus.
The band reunited last year for a series of concerts and festival appearances that continues in 2008.
Rumors persist that a new RAGE album is in the works, but the group has not announced any official plans to record new music.

This thread's gonna get ugly real fast.
Used to like this band in the 90's, not much these days though, but still respect what they do. No matter what some people might think, the world (especially America) really needs a band like this.

yeah you might not think they are metal but respect them for taking a stand. anyone who's up for starting a revolution or a riot is bad ass in my book. it's good to shake up some shit in this world and show people there's still some life in this country. i hope they do it!

Have seen rage 3 times and also saw suicidal back in the day. Not a contest, rage blows them away...intense, passionate, and definatley into the moment. If you get the chance to see rage live you will not be let down. I have seen tons of bands..slayer, metallica, kiss, in flames, lamb of god to name a few, and at least a hundred others bands...rage is in the top five live for sure and hope that they do play the rep convention in Minneapolis! You can not deny the passio and intensity of rage. Unfortunately they have had to use part of the machine to spread the word. Too bad infectious grooves, has no word to spread (except hating on other bands) and no forum to spread it through.

Tom Morello hates America? As someone who has had the pleasure of making his aquaintence on several occaisons, I can assure you all that Tom Morello is a proud American. He does what he does and says what he says, not necessesarily to enact change, but to inform people, and get kids out to vote.
Tom Morello is a communist. He may be, but after speaking to him, he like I tend to agree in principle with what Karl Marx wrote. Anyone who has actually read The Communist Manifesto knows full well that the so-called Communist nations like China and the former Soviet Union were Communist in name but not in practice. In true Communism, you have total equality among all. Everyone works together for the common good. There is no rich, but no poor either. Regrettably, true Communism cannot survie in human society as it completely flies in the face of social Darwinism. A man's desire to be the best, to be in charge, has no place in Comunism. Lenin and Stalin were not Communists. They just used the name.

.....the fact is Morello DOES devote his life to promoting change. Be it axis of justice or playing folk music in small venues.
Zack practically vanished after rage split for almost 7 years. The only time you really ever heard of him was when some fan snapped a shot of him at a rally/demo. Obviously still keepin active then.
