MÖTLEY CRÜE Seeking New Partners For 'The Dirt' Movie
- June 19, 2008
|
|
MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has told Reuters that he and his bandmates — who previously reached a deal with MTV Films/ Paramount to start producing a biopic based on their best-selling autobiography "The Dirt" — are now looking for new partners. "We're trying to get them ( MTV) out of the way to make this movie that should have been made a long time ago," he said. " MTV has become bogged down in its own way. It's a channel that used to be hip and has now actually become unhip. We signed with them because we believed they were right, but they haven't come to the table," he said. "We need to find the right partner. They are not the right partner." Read the entire article from Reuters.

Attention brothers and sisters in rock: RUN out and secure the new Judas Priest double record. A masterpiece. Brilliant. They totally nailed it. Magnificent. Huge. Fantastic. This is by far the most progressive Priest record in the discography..., keeping in mind of course the older records (Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, and Stained Class), which we all know are in their own special league anyway. I'm just completely blown away by how great this record is. The production is award winning. My first thought when I spun the record all the way through was ... "It's like having two different Sad Wings of Destinys with modern production. This record obviously took a great deal of effort and dedication on behalf of the guys. Here's to you guys! I'm telling you, it's a must have. Big, bold, and very diverse. British Steel. What more do I need to say? I hope the record charts here in America because it certainly deserves it.
I guess it comes down to something we should all be able to understand. This last Tuesday..., two major records were released. Judas Priest and Coldplay. Which record did you buy?

No problems - have Ridley Scott drop a few tabs of acid and let the man loose.
And finance the movie yourselves.

Instead of making a movie about The Dirt, they should consider doing a TV show instead. It'd have to air on Showtime or HBO of course but then, they could go into much more detail about the amount of pussy and liquor they went through on a daily basis. Good television.

Such an appropriate user name, as you are obviously both a DREAMER *and* a DECEIVER.
The new Judas Priest album is even worse than the last. Stop being a fanboy and admit it. It's getting horrible reviews by anyone with the nuts to listen objectively, unlike fans, who want so badly to return to the glory years of Priest's career, they try hard to convince themselves it's actually worth listening to.
Question - since you love it so much, if you had to choose only 5 Judas Priest records to listen to ever again for the rest of your life, would this be one of them?
And if the answer is 'no', then why listen at all? Just go back to the REAL Priest albums like Stained Class, Point of Entry, etc.
Don't be afraid to demand MORE from the bands you've made rich and famous. If you lower YOUR standards, I promise you, they'll lower theirs even more.

Sure it would be entertaining....but don't forget kids, a good percentage of this book is overexaggerated and a lot of it is fiction...
That said, I'll see it when it comes out....

When Howard Stern interviewed Sixx about this book, he asked questions about several specific claims made in the book. Sixx was totally caught off guard by all of it, exposing both Sixx and the wild stories as totally bogus.
Stern: "What about that one time in Tokyo with the 3 strippers?"
Sixx: "Uhh... What part was that?"
Stern: "Then there's that whole thing with the midget in Amsterdam"
Sixx: "Well.. it wasn't EXACTLY like that.. "
And on and on it went. I was actually uncomfortable listening to it, thinking "How many MILLIONS of people are hearing this guy just ruin his credibility live on the air right now?"

Instead of assuming he is lying all the time and fabricating the stories... try realising he abused drugs and alcohol so much his memory won't be what it was, and some of the things in the book will have been told to them by other people. This may be why he seems to not know what happens all the time.

Nikki Sixx blaming someone else for the movie not being made. I'm sure MTV or any other establishment is NOT interested in creating a movie that is based on lies & exaggerations.
Nikki needs a reality check...nothing regarding him is in demand by the public....maybe at one time, but even that is questionable. Watching The Crue together doing anything is painful these days. If Nikki ever cared about the fans, he would stop this three-ring-circus and let the fans keep some decent memories.
Nikki: Let Mick retire, he looks like death. Vince & Tommy can't stand the sight of each other. Vince is drunk & bloated most of the time. And Tommy only returned to the band, so you would drop the lawsuit against his manager.
Let Motley R.I.P.

Motley needs to talk to Rob Zombie about directing it. Zombie is atill such a huge rock n roll fan, and he needs to get way from horror movies for a bit too. I think it would fucking awesome !!

And DARKANGEL1_8, how can you dispute killian1 when he says, "Mick looks like death. Vince & Tommy can't stand the sight of each other. Vince is drunk & bloated most of the time. And Tommy only returned to the band, so you would drop the lawsuit against his manager." ?? Every one of those points are based on fact. It's not even debatable.
I'm not debating THOSE points. I'm very clear about my disagreement. And if you had some common sense, you would realize that the 3 points I stated are NOT EVEN DEBATABLE because it's the truth. Oh, and we all know that SOME "facts" on "the dirt" are either lies or exagerations... but the adictions, booze, drugs, sex, lifestyle, etc. are completely true. No one can deny it.

I think this is a case of signing on with what's essentially a "Disney channel" type studio who churn out mediocre films. MTV have commissioned a screenplay that Motley don't like and that's why there are delays, although it's not abnormal for a screenplay remain idle for an extended period of time.
There are plenty of critically acclaimed biographical movies about bands out there. There was 'The Doors' with Val Kilmer, 'Control' (Story of Ian Curtis and Joy Division) 'What's love got to do with it?' (Ike and Tina Turner story) and I have no doubt that a good one could be made about Motley Crue.
What made these films great though, was good script, good producers and great directors. Could MTV duplicate those films? Probably not.
They should've held out til the right studio came along, or better yet, fuck off the major studios all together, make it an indie film and they just may have themselves a hit.
Oh yea, studios don't give a frog's fat ass about how much truth is in a 'true story'. Infact, you'll rarely see a 'true story' on film that hasn't been embellished for the purposes of not boring the audience. You pretty much only need one or two facts to use the phrase 'based on a true story' as well.
