MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE: 'The Last Two Weeks Alone Damn Near Killed Me' - June 22, 2008
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"We just completed the 'United Abominations' world tour last night in Monterrey, Mexico.

"Thank you to everyone who came out to see us, and who supported us from afar.

"I will make a full report of what I though the last 1 1/2 years have been like; the last two weeks alone damn near killed me after getting a yellow fever vaccination to go to Manaus, Brazil alone.

"I am not one to post much about how hard it is to tour, but I am sure when I get back from my rest period that you will understand why I have been nearly invisible the last few months.

"I can't wait to get back home and get to work on TheLiveLine with my partners, as well as start the building of our new studio.

"Hell, we need our own place to jam in when we start to reconvene and demo songs for the next record after the summer.

"So, until I get back, thank you, thank you all."

On July 10, Dave Mustaine will visit the Guitar Center store in Hollywood, California for a very special installment of "GC Sessions". More details will be revealed soon.

Jelynn from Altitude TV's "Metalogy" conducted an interview with Dave Mustaine prior to the second-to-last show of this year's Gigantour on May 21, 2008 at the Long Beach Arena. Watch the eight-minute "raw and uncut" chat below.

The third installment of the U.S. Gigantour — the acclaimed traveling heavy music festival launched in 2005 by Dave Mustaine — wrapped May 22 in Phoenix, Arizona. The trek officially launched on April 12 in Denver, Colorado with headliner MEGADETH, Swedish metal band IN FLAMES, Finland's CHILDREN OF BODOM, Arizona's modern extreme act JOB FOR A COWBOY and Oakland, California heavy power trio HIGH ON FIRE.

I wonder who the musicians will be on the next record?

Whatever the case - I'm looking forward to hearing whatever Dave comes up with.

Write the next record with Waters from Annihlator. That would be metal history.

Jeff Water and Dave Mustaine? Ha, they would kill each other in the studio before actually writing anything worthwhile. Although the concept is a good one, their ego's are just too big.

Waters could do it, he is a cool dude withOUT the ego. Mustaine would hate it though. That is ego and issues in one.

I remember reading some joke site that Anders Frieden (In Flames) was joining Megadeth lol. Still, as long as there's a new album in the next year, awesome.

United Abomination still kicks ass! I've listened to pretty much all metal releases of this year and United Abomination is still the best metal album of this year. Testaments new stuff sucks, Judas Priests Nostradamus below average!

Do yourself a favor and check out United Abomination if you haven't done it yet! Megadeth\m/

I respect your opinion that Testament's new stuff sucks, although I can't honestly understand why as I think The Formation Of Damnation rules. But I agree that Nostradamus is well below average, and that United Abominations kicks ass!

waters and mustaine making a cd together would destroy all young poser trend metal bands today. then again, annihilator and megadeth do that already.

Put that pipe down bro. Neither of them has released any material worth of shit, since early '90.

You know I understand touring makes the big bucks but once your large enough and with age touring gets harder, how about sit back and just make a couple studio albums, pump them out one a year and tour after every 3 or 4.

Good example would be Rush, or Maiden. Get in the studio and make albums, you guys are getting older fast and we want as much new material you can give us, then when your ready to call it a day tour a farewell tour, but before hand you may have given us a good 5 or more studio albums to treasure.

He looks like he's getting high again. He admitted to drinking again before going on stage and that gives me the impression that there is more to it. This matters to me because he has flirted with death so many times and I don't want to see this guy slip back into his old ways because he is cool and he has written real cool stuff. I like Dave and wish him the best and hope that he can stick with a little wine before shows. Being an addict, he will probably stay like that for a while until wine doesn't cut it any more. He might already be there by the way this video looks. He does not look sober here here at all. In this case, it's not just the music I care about but also the individual. I like Mustaine. He is a big part of metal and he is intelligent and cool.
