MATT SORUM Talks GUNS N' ROSES Reunion: 'I'm Sure It'll Happen Eventually'

VELVET REVOLVER/ex- GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum has told Joe Bosso of MusicRadar.com that he thinks GUNS N' ROSES will get back together. "I'm sure it'll happen eventually," he said. Sorum isn't so sure about his involvement in a reunion, however. "They could be having meetings about it right now. They could be in a bomb shelter, with Axl [ Rose, vocals] and Slash [guitar] and Duff [ McKagan, bass]. And Izzy [ Stradlin, guitar]! Maybe Steven Adler [original GUNS N' ROSES drummer] — I don't know. I'd probably be the very, very, very last guy to get the call." As for the status of VELVET REVOLVER's search for a new lead singer following the departure of Scott Weiland, Sorum said, "We are looking. We are actively looking. We rehearsed for a couple of weeks. We tried out a couple of guys. We have a guy right now that we're still… let me see, what would be the correct word… massaging, as you will — sort of checking it out, feeling it out, letting him work with us. [The guy Sorum is referring to is rumored to be the former THE PANIC CHANNEL/ SKYCYCLE singer Steve Isaacs — Ed.] I'd rather not [say who it is] — just because I don't want it to get out that he might be the guy. I mean, we like him, he's awesome… It's really weird because [chuckles] Slash and Duff and myself — especially the three of us — we were kind of like, 'Wow, this guy shows up to a rehearsal on time, he's really nice, he's easy to get along with,' and it actually kind of scared us, 'cause we thought, 'Is this possible?' God, I was worried for a minute that it was almost like, you know, when you get in a relationship with a girl, or a guy gets in a relationship with a girl, or a girl gets in a relationship with a guy, and maybe they're really, really, really nice, but for some reason you don't really like them. [Laughs] I'm kind of worried that we might be so used to the drama. [Laughs] I kind of looked around at the guys. I said, 'Man, this guy is a super-nice dude. You think we can go with that or what? I hope that VR picks a true hard rock singer, and not another grunge geek junkie like Weiland.
I hope for a reunion of the original GN'R.
However, I don't think Steven is up to the challenge.

anyway, if it isn't Matt, it Won't be Adler. Guy can barely play anymore, that stroke messed him up, even if he can somewhat speak coherently or whatever, Matt is a very good drummer, knows their music, etc. - thought, I doubt a true reunion will ever happen with Axl anyway. His massive ego, lack of any sense of teamwork (being on time for shows, rehearsals, press, etc) , overall LAZINESS (Chinese Democracy, how many years has this alledged CD taken now? 10-14?? at how much est. costs: $13 milliion??!!). There's being a perfectionist and then there's Howard Hughes like idiosyncracy's. Wonder if Axl walks around his house with tissue boxes on his feet too !

There will be too much money involved to not do at least a 'one-off' show. I think an announcement will be made within one year.

When I saw VR on the first tour Weiland sang half his vocals through a megaphone & the only powerful vocals all night were when Duff sang on the Guns stuff.
So why not Duff as the new singer.
It'd save on the smack bill if nothing else.

First off:
My guess is that Scott Stapp will be the next singer for Velvet Revolving Door
Secondly, Matt Sorum is a much better drummer than Steven Adler. Less drama and more powerful drummer.
Izzy Stradlin hasn't had much success after Guns, but he's the guy in the band that hits the high harmonies. (ie Michael Anthony of VH)
So I would say use him instead of Gilby.

I don't see this happening. Axl is firing on all cylinders right now and a switch to lower gear doesn't look like its going to happen anytime soon. The guy is busting his ass day and night ppppftttseriously focused and in tune with whats going on pffttHAHAHAA oK I cant hold it in any longer ahahhahaaha I seriously thought I was going to make it and I tried there HAHAHAHA but yeah no Axl's plate is pretty much open aside from that 8AM appointment at Denny's and an ass polishing later on.
Just don't ask him about the album. I heard reading Bach was asking him whats the hold up with the album man and Axl says you really want to know and Seb says yeah and Axl slides up Bach's car drops his drawers and lets a nice slimy one go right there on the hood.

If they do a reunion it's gotta be with Adler. I love Matt to pieces but let's face it. GNR's best album is Appetite. Who's the drummer on Appetite? WELL that would be Mr. Steven Adler of course!! As for the whole Izzy v.s. Gilby thing? No contest. Izzy hands down. Sorry Gilby, love ya too but stick with Camp Freddy. You and Matt can keep your little jam band going while Guns takes over the world... AGAIN.

Sorum is starting to talk too much anymore and it's getting annoying. Any which way you slice it GnR will NEVER be close to the same band they once were. Too much time has passed.

something about a reunion comes up, as we all get excited, then afta a few days, it dies down, then a few months later a new thread is posted about a reunion,
ofcourse id like a reunion afta Axls (the Man) has released all his albums.
