MÖTLEY CRÜE's 'Saints Of Los Angeles' Headed For U.S. Top 5 Debut - June 25, 2008
According to Hits Daily Double (the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS), MÖTLEY CRÜE's new album, "Saints of Los Angeles", is poised to sell around 90,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release for a likely Top 4 debut on The Billboard 200 chart.

This week's #1 album, COLDPLAY's "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" will spend yet another week at the top of the sales chart, followed by Cash Money/Universal Republic rap icon LIL WAYNE's blockbuster "Tha Carter III" and Disney's "Camp Rock" soundtrack, featuring the JONAS BROTHERS.

"Saints of Los Angeles" is MÖTLEY CRÜE's first studio album since 2000's "New Tattoo", which has sold a little over 200,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The band's last studio effort with all of its original members was 1997's "Generation Swine", which debuted and peaked at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, and has sold more than 300,000 units.

"Saints of Los Angeles" is loosely based on the band's memoir, "The Dirt", which was published in 2001.

MÖTLEY CRÜE performed the title track of its new album, "Saints of Los Angeles", on last night's (Tuesday, June 24) edition of CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman". Check out video footage below.

Photos of the performance, which was taped yesterday afternoon at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, can be found on the Wire Image web site.

MÖTLEY CRÜE played its first show in a year Sunday night (June 22) when it headlined the second day of the Heavy MTL festival in front of 22,500 fans at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

"Crüe Fest" will kick off on July 1 in West Palm Beach, Florida, hitting 40 cities before wrapping up in late August.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's most recent tour in 2005/2006 grossed $46.3 million and drew more than 960,000 people to 125 concerts, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Hmmm...if this turns out to be true, I will have to say that the 'horrors' attributed to torrent downloading are not entirely true. This record has seen HUGE numbers in terms of 'illegal' downloads, yet here we have Hits Daily Double talking about very impressive sales.

I really wish it would be #1... and it would a big "fuck you" salute to all those idiots that listen to hip hop and all the other flavour of the week bands that r out these days.

Just picked it up today, listening to the 4th track right now (down at the whisky)... Sounds decent so far... I wouldnt say its amazing though.

I knew I would pick this up for the title track alone, and hope for the best.

Picked up at lunch on Tuesday, and was able to listen to the first 4 tracks. Dug the first song...."Whisky" had me thinking this was going to some of the crap stuff off of Dr. Feelgood (I hated Same old song...and Don't go away mad) I was thinking "Burn it, and then eBay it" After work, got to listen to the rest of the CD...and was pretty impressed.

It's now Wednesday and it has by all means grown on me. It's not the greatest album, but better than 95% of the crap out there. It's by all mean a keeper for me. Title track is by all means the strongest, but still a damn good album!

Still doubt they will ever beat "Shout", but a good album to have!

Just picked up Bonded By Blood's 'Feed The Beast' and Motley Crue's 'Saint's Of Los Angeles' at Best Buy. They both were Best Buy exclusives and I only paid $15 for both cd's.

Better than 95% of the crap out there? My god, this was a quick throw together "Soundtrack" to a book to throw down the fans throat to build hype for a shitty tour full of shitty bands. Recycled rifs and highschool anthem rock hooks. More what than The Black Album, Load And Reload together. The drums could have been programmed and the vocal correction for vince is obvious. crap C-R-A-P crap!

But I am not loving this album. Sheekster - Crue self-titled was musically their best album. that thing blows all other Crue albums out of the water....and your mom blows me.

I like the title track on this CD, but I kinda wish I had downloaded it and not bought it. FUCK!

"WHY THE HELL DID 'THE FORMATION OF DAMNATION' ONLY SELL 12,000 COPIES???"

Because Testament doesn't have the name of a Metallica, Guns N Roses or a Motley Crue it would seem, as good as they actually are. Greater name recognition invariably leads to greater record sales, regardless of the musical capability of the bands involved. Its just the nature of the music biz.

that's what this cd does!stop whining because your no talnt band can't sell that many or draw the crowds they doe. and for the love of god stop showing how ignorant you are by saying their first record was their best, like they did not do anything since. just because they millions of records since and became popular does not mean they have sucked since. it just means they did what every band sets out to do and that is make music everyone likes and become rich and faamous. all your whining does not chane that fact orthat the band you like can't do it.

You're talking out of your a$$ buddy.

"the only reason it's going to be Top 5 is because NO ONE sells that well anymore "

If nobody sells that well anymore, than the drop in sales would be similar for all bands. If this album was going to be top 5 before illegal downloading, it would still be top 5 after illegal downloading. Idiot.

Are you saying people are downloading all of the other albums illegally, except for this album?

So pull your head out of your ass and stop making statements based on ignorance.

Eh. Not really knocked out by it...but its also kind of what I was expecting. I may not buy this after all.

Are there tracks I should be checking out that are better than the above?

...and to the moron who said Judas who? Go back to your Metal 101 class...you need it.

Yeah, the days of millions sold are gone. And still, even with all the 'illegal' downloading, first week sales of 90,000 remains impressive.

This is probably the best MC album.

Nice cd sales too, the only reason why metal bands are not selling cds like they used to is becuase there is no radio or video play. Also becuase of demographic shifts. Generation X 's are now 40. Not becuase of illegal downloads. Most people who download would have never bought the album to begin with.

I remember in the 80's the metal bands new albums were on the radio. I remember hearing Priest defenders new release on Chom in Montreal during the day. I remember seeing metal videos all over MTV and MUCH all day long. That's why records sold in big numbers.

I have yet to hear Maiden's, Priest's new album ect.. on the radio during normal hours.

If anything illegal downloads has saved the touring industry. In the early 90's touring was dead for metal and there were no illegal downloads
