YouTube Tribute To KING DIAMOND Gets Singer's Stamp Of Approval - June 26, 2008
King Diamond has commented on a popular YouTube clip of two suburban Tennessee teenagers driving around in their car singing along to the classic 1988 KING DIAMOND track "Welcome Home". The video, which can be seen below, has gotten more than 15,000 views since it was originally posted a year ago.

In a statement released to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, King Diamond, who saw the clip for the first time earlier this week, said, "OH MY GOD!!!! That just blew me away!!!! Absolutely 200% AWESOME! I [have always said that] we have the best fans in the world! It's so hilarious and at the same time it really makes me feel so honored seeing the level of dedication and how much our fans get out of our music!!"

"Welcome Home" is featured on the third KING DIAMOND album "Them", which was released in 1988 via Roadrunner Records. The song features prominently in the 2006 movie "Clerks II", serving as the de facto theme song for Jay and Silent Bob on a number of occasions. The song also has a music video (see below), which features King Diamond as a young boy in his old house welcoming his grandmother home from the asylum.

Since when does King Diamond say "OH MY GOD"?! I mean, he paints an inverted cross on his face!

This is almost as funny as the time I heard Glen Benton say "Jesus Christ" (and not in a derogatory way) in between songs at a Deicide show. (I don't recall the exact date, but it was a few years ago at The Pound in SF... and I wasn't the only one who heard it)

Fake satanists...

That kids video was cool in itself but in a global concept it was lame, I mean it's just people trying (trying) to sing in the car. Zzzzz Zzzz

good for about 20 seconds.

but mega cheers to King for not being like countless metal guys who would take offense at the fun in it.

he's got a sense of humour, and that's great.

i've been listening to Abigail and Them the last couple weeks, along with the first two Fate albums and jesus, they are unbelievable.

the riffing, melodies and atmosphere are unrivalled after all these years.

King, Hank, Denner, Andy, and to a smaller degree, Mickey, deserve to be immortalized for their work on the those albums, the first two Fate and especially the first two KD.

cheers.
