OPETH Forced To Cancel More Festival Appearances

Swedish metallers OPETH have issued the following update:
"Due to Mikael [Åkerfeldt, guitar/vocals] contracting varicella (chicken pox), the appearances this weekend, Peace & Love (Borlänge, Sweden on June 26), Hovefestivalen (Norway on June 27), Metaltown (Gothenborg, Sweden on June 28), and Graspop Metal Meeting (Dessel, Belgium on June 29), have all been cancelled. We hope to have Mike on his feet again as soon as possible, and obviously apologize to all and any that had set out to see OPETH this weekend."
"Watershed", the new album from OPETH, sold more than 19,000 copies of in the United States in its first week of release.
"Watershed" is the follow-up to the band's acclaimed "Ghost Reveries" CD, which debuted at No. 64 on the Billboard chart back in September 2005 with first-week sales of just under 15,000. OPETH's 2003 album, "Damnation", opened with a little over 5,000 copies.
"Ghost Reveries" has sold more than 95,000 copes in the United States since its 2005 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

As tempting as the jokes may be that sucks. I got them at 16 and it f'kn hurts when you get them at an older age. It also scars pretty badly too since you're bigger and your weight alone pops the damn things. Good luck on this one.

That's gotta suck for Mikael. (chicken pox is really bad when your an adult, but not fatal) I hope he gets better soon.

and I still have scars.... bad memories of sitting in a tub of meds. I hear it's way worse at an older age.

He more than likely has shingles and not chicken pox. I had it a few years back and it sucked. It takes at least a couple weeks to get over. Best of luck Mikael.

and missed Iron Maiden because of them.
Obsidian that sucks that it was painful for you. I got them relatively later than usual like you did, but they only itched, no real pain.

I got them at 30. Sick for a couple of weeks. I bet his growls are better. Listening to Damnation yesterday. Great album.

looks like I'm not alone in getting them at an older age. I know my case was exceptionally bad ( down throat and in eyelids) so maybe that's why there was pain... regardless they blow. I just hope he gets well soon without to much problems. I especially hope he doesn't get them in the throat cause I wonder what that can do to a singing voice.
