SLIPKNOT To Unveil New Masks Next Week

On July 1, SLIPKNOT, the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum nine-man hard rock enigma, will unveil its new imagery in an exclusive partnership with AOL Music, the web's most trafficked online music destination. This highly anticipated debut kicks-starts the launch of SLIPKNOT's new album, "All Hope Is Gone", which is set for release on Roadrunner Records in August. Masks are an integral part of the band's identity and to reflect this point, AOL Music's Spinner.com will host a retrospective photo gallery of SLIPKNOT masks throughout its career, spanning all three previous albums and including the most recent controversial "Purgatory Masks." The SLIPKNOT mask unveiling will be featured on the main page of Spinner.com worldwide for 24 hours. Starting this Sunday, June 29, stop by any Hot Topic store to hear the new SLIPKNOT single, "Psychosocial". The song will be played every hour on the hour. "Psychosocial" will make its way to radio stations on June 30 and be available online July 1. Percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan told The Pulse of Radio everything he could about the track. "One thing I can feel is like that song has got a lot of, like, you know, I would say social anxiety," he said. "It's got a real good tempo and it's really, you know, today. It's really fun and it's different. I think most of the stuff that we have is different." SLIPKNOT has tapped Colin Richardson ( MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, NAPALM DEATH) to mix its fourth label album titled "All Hope is Gone". Due on August 26 via Roadrunner Records, the disc was recorded with producer Dave Fortman ( EVANESCENCE, MUDVAYNE) at a studio near the band's hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor said in a press release about the new CD, "Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men. I think it's the best thing I've ever made." The last SLIPKNOT studio album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", arrived in 2004 and sold more than a million copies in the U.S. SLIPKNOT will co-headline the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour this summer with DISTURBED. The trek, which also features DRAGONFORCE, MASTODON, MACHINE HEAD and others, kicks off on July 9 in Seattle.

Why can't anybody give Slipknot the respect they deserve. They have been a fully intact band for 9 years now and they have managed to maintain their sound for such a longtime. They didn't die out like Limp Bizkit or Korn. They didn't go pop like Linkin Park. People want to bash them because they wear masks. So fuckin' what if they wear masks! Listen to the music people. Isn't that what metal is all about? The music?! Their new music sounds great and sounds right for the time in metal music.

I was just giving an example of a band that have way more talent and play intelligent music which benifits metal and music in general. 'A little hint' if you will to lead some misguided nu-metal fans like yourself to some real music! Trying to do all of you a favor! Take it or leave it.

I like the music and have always thought the masks were a little dumb but it's nothing compared to some of the stupid fucking costumes and Dungeons & Dragons sounding names that have come out of the death and black metal bands. Any fans of that shit have no room to talk any trash.

I didn't realize you had be in school and writing a formal paper to utilize PROPER ENGLISH AND SENTENCE STRUCTURE! Again, just testament to the train of thought of the Slipknot kids. And, yes, I am assuming you are still in high school - thus "kids" is fitting terminology.
By the way, Hot Topic is the premiere store for the Slipknot crowd. Every time I walk by the place I have to shield myself from all the Slipknot shirts and merchandise I see...it's right next to the ICP merchandise. I'm sure you'd be welcome with open arms into the fold of adolescent teen goths who think they are being rebelious but instead make themselves look like clown make-up, Marilyn Manson wannabe idiots.

In an effort to go green, Slipknot have just announced that it's members will shed their masks, and will now in fact wear recycled paper sacks over their heads.
Fans are encouraged to stop by their local Hot topic store to enter a " paint my sack" competition to design their new "head" gear.
Lucky winners in selected cities on the tour will get to go backstage and have the opportunity to lick their favorite "member's sack."

What's wrong with Slipknot's image being as important as their music? I'd be hard-pushed to name any metal band where the imagery wasn't crucial, whether it's Maiden's album covers or Tool's videos or Kiss' stage show. It's all part of the package, non? I'd agree with the haters to some extent if Slipknot's music was no good, but Vol.3 was great and the new stuff sounds fine. Without them, and bands like 'em, all we'd have is a bunch of kids in shorts and Vans - and some of that stuff is good too - but, god, it'd be dull if that was all there was in this genre.

I still don't get why eveyone hates the mask thing. I mean then you have to start hating all the theatrical side of metal. And I don't want to go to a show where the band is dressed like my next door neighbor in blue jeans and some old shirt - come on, that's a bit too grunge.

I really find it pathetic the way so many people have so much negativity about a band. It's just stupid do you guys really not have anything better to do with your time than to sit here posting comments on bands you don't like, seriously guys it's pathetic if you don't like the band OK say that maybe once but don't constantly post garbage and start spreading rumours. Go out and do your own thing instead of criticizing other peoples.
