SLIPKNOT: Complete 'Psychosocial' Track Available For Streaming - June 30, 2008
SLIPKNOT's new single, "Psychosocial", is available for streaming in its entirety on guitarist Mick Thomson's MySpace page.

In other news, Thomson has posted a photo (see below) of what may or may not be his new mask.

"Psychosocial" will make its way to radio stations today (June 30) and be available online July 1. Percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan told The Pulse of Radio everything he could about the track. "One thing I can feel is like that song has got a lot of, like, you know, I would say social anxiety," he said. "It's got a real good tempo and it's really, you know, today. It's really fun and it's different. I think most of the stuff that we have is different."

SLIPKNOT has tapped Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, NAPALM DEATH) to mix its fourth label album titled "All Hope is Gone". Due on August 26 via Roadrunner Records, the disc was recorded with producer Dave Fortman (EVANESCENCE, MUDVAYNE) at a studio near the band's hometown of Des Moines, Iowa.

SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor said in a press release about the new CD, "Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men. I think it's the best thing I've ever made."

On July 1, SLIPKNOT will unveil its new imagery in an exclusive partnership with AOL Music, the web's most trafficked online music destination. This highly anticipated debut kick-starts the launch of SLIPKNOT's new album, "All Hope Is Gone". Masks are an integral part of the band's identity and to reflect this point, AOL Music's Spinner.com will host a retrospective photo gallery of SLIPKNOT masks throughout its career, spanning all three previous albums and including the most recent controversial "Purgatory Masks." The SLIPKNOT mask unveiling will be featured on the main page of Spinner.com worldwide for 24 hours.

The last SLIPKNOT studio album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", arrived in 2004 and sold more than a million copies in the U.S.

SLIPKNOT will co-headline the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour this summer with DISTURBED. The trek, which also features DRAGONFORCE, MASTODON, MACHINE HEAD and others, kicks off on July 9 in Seattle.

Got hi hopes for this album cos the last was a fine mature metal album! And that's coming from a 38 year old before all you haters accuse me of being a kid who doesn't know anything about metal

This new album is gonna blow. All hope is gone is a clusterfuck of noise. They failed at writing a heavy song. Psychosocial is just weak, and Corey should leave Stone Sour vocals out of Slipknot. I foresee disappointment.

I absolutely LOVE both tracks that have been released thus far, and I totally agree with what Corey said about the album being a dark mix between Iowa and Vol. 3; his vocal style on "All Hope Is Gone" and "Psychosocial" seems to be more in tune with what he sounded like on Iowa. I cannot wait for this album to drop!

On a side note: I can't even begin to count the times that I've heard people say, "Vol.3 (and Psychosocial) sound too much like Stone Sour, not Slipknot." Uhhh, well, it's not Stone Sour, it's Slipknot, and just because you associate melodic vocals with what Corey does on Stone Sour albums doesn't mean when he does it on a 'knot album that it's Stone Sour. Get over it - bands mature, and I think it's great that Slipknot refuses to write the same album over and over again. Don't get me wrong....I LOVE their first two LPs, they were full of raw emotion and power, but the band really stepped it up a notch with Vol.3; it was certainly they're most "complete" album in terms of song structure and compositional value, not to mention it was still heavy as hell most of the way through ("Circle" and "Vermilion Pt.2" are the only notable acoustic tracks). Lastly, I think the people who complain about the melodic vocals are totally overlooking the fact that BOTH of the first albums had melodic vocals in tracks as well....so back and listen to:

Wait and Bleed
Spit It Out (a bit in the chorus)
Purity
My Plague
Gently
Left Behind
The Shape
Iowa

Corey has always done melodic vocals to an extent, but with the first two albums the production was much more raw and the clean, melodic vocals were purposely mixed in the same fashion, unlike with Vol.3 and probably the new album. Just wanted to get that out there.

i've kind of sat back and enjoyed the threads on all the various Slipknot posts. I got into Slipknot before they were signed, but were on tour with a bunch of different Nu-Metal bands. IMO, their first album is the only one that holds up to anything.

'Psychosocial' sounds like a horrible Slipknot parody in my opinion. The drums are boring as sin, esepcially considering how good their drummer actually is. The vocal melody in this tune can't hold a flame to any of the songs of their first album with melodic vocals in them. It's not that the melodies take away from the heaviness, it's just that they suck while the tunes on their first album didn't.

Not to burst everybody's bubble, but people keep saying the vocals are too much like Stone Sour because when Stone Sour came out the two bands sounded different. Since Vol. 3 all of hte melodies in Slipknot songs just sound like parts of Stone Sour songs Corey decided to use for Slipknot instead.

And for the record, 'All Hope is Gone' does sound like a mess of noise, and not because it's a blast beat behind the riff, but because the riff is rehashed garbage that a bazillion other bands have played over similar paced blastbeats since the inception of good death metal.

I'm not saying everyone shouldn't enjoy their beloved Slipknot, but they're not amazing, their masks are just plain stupid, the solos don't hold up, and Corey doesn't sound menacing anymore, just whiny.

I agree with everything you said. Unfortunately, you've overlooked the fact that most of the numbskulls who post negative stuff on Slipknot threads either haven't bothered to listened to the albums or can't see past the image (which I'm fed up defending, so to anyone who thinks it's ridiculous: fine, please go and listen to Kansas or Chicago or some other brilliant band who don't go for all that "entertainment" nonsense)

But whoever says that Slipknot stepped it up on the last 2 albums totally dont understand why metalheads listened to these guys in the first place. I mean, logically, you would think think that they would get more respect now because of the solos and blast beats and such, but everything sound very uninspired and tired. Their older stuff was raw and sounded very genuine. Now it sounds like they are trying to hard to be a more mature metal band. Maybe its because of Corey's vox. or the awful riffs by Mick Thompson and the other guy. Its really sad how overrated all the musicians in the band are. oh well.

Okay, I accept you clearly were once a fan, so you're entitled to your views

But why is it wrong for them to want to be mature? It's like saying that Metallica should keep remaking Kill 'Em All. With the possible exception of AC/DC, no-one can sustain an interesting career with the same sound

And who exactly is overrating the musicians? I like Slipknot, but wouldn't cite any of them bar Corey and possibly Joey as notable players. Technical virtuosity isn't the point of the band, is it?

Slipknot have failed to disappoint their fans, but its only a matter of time before they can't write any new material that will impress fans. Hopefully they end it on good terms

Bruno, don't think any of that anti-hater rant was directed straight at you, I just got carried away hahaha. I grow tired of having to defend Slipknot, but they are my #1 favorite metal band, and it's always the same old illegitimate argument against them.

As for the haters: you heard it....Slipknot is my favorite METAL band. They are so metal it hurts and makes me want to scream!!! Yeah, call me a poser or mallcore boy or whatever else, but frankly, you can all kiss my Slipknot loving ass!!!!
