Amy thinking back, I've noticed that there have been a number of bands who have been signed to Raidrunner but never released anything. For starters there was Twice the Sun who, based on their demos I really liked, then there was Rumble Fish who I don't think I ever even heard, for good reason The Dirty Americans never had their CD released by Roadrun, Goneblind released an EP which was next to impossible to find, Dislocated Styles released one album that I have never seen in stores (not that I would buy it if I did) and Ether Seeds had an album planned but I don't think it ever actually came out did it? Just wondering because I liked some of their songs and people are selling the Ether Seeds album on Ebay but I don't want a fake copy of an album that was never released. Anyway I guess my question is: what happened? Why were these bands signed but nothing ever came of them? Thanks so much.

Raidrunner? We're not a bug spray. Yep, sometimes we sign bands and things just don't work out as planned and we chose not to put out the record. Twice The Sun lost their singer, which doesn't exactly indicate "stability" to your new label which is going to put money into the marketing and promotion of your band. That's a risk and a gamble and on new bands, we can't always chance it if they can't keep their shit together. They eventually broke up. I was here for ALL these bands and their non-albums.  Sometimes, it just doesn't work out and we decide that it's not the right move for US or the BAND to put out the record.

ok so the Cavalera Conspiracy just announced a show in Grand Rapids MI at the Orbit room...first off the orbit room is WAY to big of a venue for that band to headline (and slightly fill) last time Max came with soulfly they played a much smaller venue, and did not even sell it out. im only trying to help, shit in flames did not even sell out that venue. Second, any idea if any RR bands are playin ozzfest this year?

We don't book tours the band's individual booking agents do. Cav Cons and Devildriver will play Ozzfest this year.

what i cant understand is why you will swear up and down slipknot is "METAL".. coming from a semi half assed label you should know what is metal and what is nu metal. metal = maiden, slayer, deicide. nu metal = mudvayne, slipknot, korn. now ill be waiting for a comment along the lines 'SLIPKNOT IZ TEH BR00TL" they suck along with 80% of todays metal. shit like metalcore and the boring ass dm/bm is just going straight to hell.

About how much does it cost to record an album? And about how much would marketing, promotion, and design cost?

There is no estimatable answer to this. Depends on the stage of your career, how many records you've released, what is recoupable and non-recoupable, what your advance is, what your artwork costs, and what potential you have at radio. I can't even guess. If it's a radio-leaning band, it's more. If it's a more grass roots marketable band, it'd be less.

Hey I was at the Arch Enemy concert in Vancouver the other night. I had the honour of talking with Dino for a bit. He's such a cool guy. I heard something about a Roadrunner United DVD...but that's all I'm going to say. But what I'm trying to say is that I really had no money to support Dino and the rest of the guys to by buying merch but DIno hooked me up with autographs and a drumhead...so can you thank him for me!! There was plenty of advertisement for that in 2003, when it came out. It's a specialty, limited piece. Like "special." Oh, the Einsteins who post questions here...

I think she's a lesbian. I dunno her marital status, but maybe if she lives in Cali, she will get married, since the new domestic partner laws are going into effect. We're not accepting demos from bands with no touring/release history, sorry.

I'm not dead. I did not quit. I'm just busy. This is a "spare time, end of the week" thing I do. I get paid to get our bands in magazines and on the radio, not to write this column.
