Ask Amy for 09.12.08
Question:
what is an "opendisc"?? Because its listed for the new opeth album on the 'releases' page and I dont wanna pre-order something without knowing what it is! Please answer me. Im not trying to be one of those assholes who always rip on you for no reason!! lol
Amy responds:

Basically, it's the regular CD with extra content. You pop the disc into your computer, an exclusive site opens up, you register and you receive tons of free content (music, videos, contests and more) throughout the year.

Question:
I don't know if you've had the chance, but have you guys ever considered signing Alice In Chains? I know you released Jerry's Degration Trip, but why haven't you got together with AIC. I heard they have a new singer finally and are working on some new material. Jerry Cantrell is an amazing lyricyst and an amazing singer. It would be great if you realeased the new Alice In Chains album. Get to work on it...soon.
Amy responds:

Nope, not going to happen. Already been to that well.

Question:
Do you think Metallica lost their "kick-assness" after Cliff Burton passed away?
Amy responds:
I think that was indeed a factor.

Question:
how many times have you seen Mr. Mom?
Amy responds:
220-221 times.

Question:
Hi Amy! After searching the sight I found the band Steadlur and I was woundering when these guys would be touring out and about? Also, these guys especially would do well in Bend Oregon. I'd love to be able to see them play there. If not, please send some bands like this my wa
Amy responds:
They will be, just not right now.

Question:
Do you think DevilDriver will keep going strong and get an album out in 09???...keep with the two year interval thing??
Amy responds:

TBD.

Question:
How can I get in contact with themembers of Black Stone cherry I wanted to see if they would come to Lancaster New hampshire
Amy responds:
Legitimate show bookers and local concert promoters know to contact the band's booking agents.

Question:
do you have any news about Tom Keifer's health? Is he getting well?
Amy responds:
I have not heard anything other than he was once depressed and had nodes on his vocal chords. Night Songs - great album!

Question:
I have 2 bands and I live in crappy old Indiana. Where should I go (within the U.S.A.) if I even hope of getting a record deal.
Amy responds:
Haven't you ever heard the story of W. Axl Rose AKA Billy Bailey, the boy from Indiana who went to LA and became one of the most notorious frontmen of all time? Dude, come on now! READ UP! NYC or LA.

Question:
Let me start by saying I'm Jeal of you! Yes, I do REALLY understand your work. Been around the life for a long time. Let's just say it's hard...How is it that you are so fucking hardcore, bitchy, & smart yet, cute as a button, at the same time? Wanna hang @ the Atlanta in the ghetto gig? Drivin out to catch the madness! Wouldn't miss this for the world! It's just like Starwood Ampitheatre- That's the first place I saw Slipknot (btw... Ozzfest '99... & yes, they are GENIUSES!!! I knew it then... A Maggot forever more!) They Bulldozed it (home) last fall! Urban-Sprawling Bastards!!! I don't drink coffee either... Anyways... (Sorry, I went a little Dennis Leary.)
Amy responds:
Wow, I love you, although ease up on the "bitchy" comment. I prefer "sacastic, bitter, cynical." )

Question:
I just heard u last night on hard attack hanging with jose on my way to work and i forgot the name of the myspace page for the book you co wrote can i please have that info i would really like to check out more on that book and keep me informed of the release date. P.S. new SLIPKNOT IS BEST ALBUM OF 08 so far!!
Amy responds:

www.myspace.com/dothedevilsworkforhim.

Question:
Im a young guitarist and was wondering if roadrunner had any kind of project running where they could get like a super group of young musicians that they could mold into being roadrunners and the worlds next big thing?
Amy responds:

We don't Svengali bands.

Question:
lets make thease fight questions a worthy scrap, kerry king vrs george "corpsegrinder" fisher whos ur money on?
Amy responds:
King is tough, formidable, built like a brickshithouse, looks intimidating and like he could kick my ass with one chop to the throat, whereas CG isn't the most in shape guy I've ever seen. So, I'll go with Kerrold!

Question:
Hello, will there be a special edition of machine head's the blackening release in the future? thanks
Amy responds:
October 28. Same say as Cradle of Filth's Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder.

Question:
Are there any authorized(meaning they were cool with it) covers of SlipKnot songs released?
Amy responds:
Negatory.

Question:
Hey amy! Never answered one of my questions before but I thought i'd give it another try. What do you think of Trivium's new album Shogun? I think The Crusade was a complete waste of talent in my opinion. They tried to much to change their style, and now that they've done Shogun, they've figured out that right comboniation of things to finally find their "Style". I love Into The Mouth and KG.
Amy responds:
I think that it is a better effort than the prior album, which was not my fave Trivium record. I like screaming in my metal and think Matt does a great job with three-tiered vocals.

Question:
how come RR say they sign the best yet they havent got metallica? and also have you heard the shogun album? and do it kick peoples arses?
Amy responds:
Oh brother. Metallica HAS a record label. We can't  just go pluck them off the heap and make them ours. NOT HOW IT WORKS. Things like contracts and legalities... Yes, I have heard Shogun, and it is more like Ascendancy!

Question:
Hey Amy! Here's a good one: What's with all the f**king re-issues? Roadrunner seems to be the worst label for pumping them out: Band puts out album, album does well, 6 months later label-re-releases it with all kindsa shite that doesn't matter. Can you go up to Monte and scream "ENUFF ALREADY!" pleaseandthankyou?! )
Amy responds:
Re: the f**king reissues, we pump them out just like EVERY other label. Only we do expanded artwork, extra tracks, more DVDs, etc, than other labels. I can't scream in Monte's ear b/c he is my friend. And even if I did, I doubt this would stop reissues from coming out. We also have been releasing simultaneous special editions that come out the same day as the regular edition. The reissues are for the fans who want every scrap of material a band puts out, the collectors.

Question:
Amy, this may be one of the more lame questions you get asked but here goes... Is there any way of finding out what groups were played on a certain night and time? You know rather like a set list if you will. My hubby and I are frrom the uk and so we listen to a lot of Virgin radio here in our computers and the have a spot where they show the list of the artists and the song and time it was played. Always a great help if they don't tell you verbally who it was namely when it is a new band. Anyway dear lass that is the question and I know we would be over the moon if there is a way to do the same on here, Cheers, Xander-Ann
Amy responds:
Trust me, I have seen WORSE in terms of lame questions. Most radio shows/stations post their playlists or programming logs on their websites.

Question:
I have been looking everywhere for info on the upcoming Devildriver DVD but havent found anything. Can u tell me whats the deal. How much longer? And do u honestly think that "All Hope Is Gone" will stand up to "The Last Kind Words" It seems Corey is singing more and more and leaving us real metalheads behind. I've already pre ordered it, and i am hoping for more Iowa and alot LESS Vol. 3
Amy responds:
To be determined. AHIG is my fave record of '08 so far.

Question:
Howdy Amy, this will be a short one "UNFORGIVEN III" any comments ?!
Amy responds:
We still haven't forgiven them for the first two! Or II!

Question:
I want to get a tattoo of the 2 guitars that Rob Flynn uses, the one in the Imperium video and the one in the Aesthetics of Hate video (which might be the one Dimbag gave him after destroying one of his other guitars). The problem is I can't seem to figure out what they are called and I can't find a good solid picture to give to my tatto artist. Any suggestions?
Amy responds:

There's this amazing brand new thing called Google. And on the toolbar, there's "Images." I find tons of photos of things I am looking for on that. Or show the vids to your tatt artist.

Question:
Hi Amy. Do you like the band Beyond Fear? Saw the singer Tim Ripper Owens with Yngwie Malmsteen last month, Ripper is very underated singer imo.
Amy responds:
I am glad that Barlow returned to Iced Earth. I like his voice better than Ripper's in that band. I have not heard any new Beyond Fear. If I want to blast some power metal and crack glass, I go with Iced Earth or Hammerfall.

Question:
I don't know if I'm blind, or there's not actually a webpage about internships, but does Roadrunner hire interns? I'm a student at Michigan State University and I am interested in marketing/advertising in the music industry. If internships are available could you please send me more info or direct me to the person who can? Thanks so much. (Sorry this isn't a "Roadrunner Trivia Question"...I didn't know who else to ask )
Amy responds:
Yep, we do. But we don't have anywhere on the site to post internship opps. We'd get too many freaks that way. There are proper channels you can go through - visit your career center at your school for guidance- in order to obtain an internship. The requirement is that you are located in NYC, even if only for a summer.

Question:
Hello Amy.I've recently read that the Death album Spiritual Healing is out of print. Is this true?I'm a big Death fan and haven't yet came across this album. Now I know this album wasn't released on RR, but was assuming i'd get the most trustworthy answer here.Thank you
Amy responds:

As far as I know, it's out of print.

Question:
I just want you guys to know that you should bring back the roadrunner records label gear!! All the artists, are cool, don't get me wrong, even loved the roadrunner united album (maybe some gear from that project would be cool aswell ) ) but the label itself is absolutely crushing!! Please bring back the RR merch!!
Amy responds:
Preaching to the choir my friend! I wish we had RR-specific gear too!

Question:
why did ill nino leave roadrunner records. I consider them to be one of the best bands to come through here
Amy responds:
In '05.

Question:
I have a band better than black tide and we are all 15. What should we do to catch record buisnesses eyes?
Amy responds:
Work your teenaged ass off.

Question:
Hey Amy - what was ROADRACER Records all about? I have quite a few albums and cassettes on the ROADRACER label- how does ROADRACER tie-in with Roadrunner? Paul Pannick - WI
Amy responds:
Roadrunner was called RoadRacer before.

Question:
Hey Amy. None of my questions have ever been answered on here before so hopefully this one will, its pretty important to me. Well, my question for you is, What do you think Slipknot's core fan base's reaction will be to All Hope Is Gone? I just heard for the first time from start to finish and I must say, this is certainley NOT Slipknot. But, im saying that in the most positive way. I've been playing guitar for over 10 years and was always bored with Slipnot's old approach to songwriting. But All Hope Is Gone is amazing! Does it seem to you that Slipknot have deicided to abandon the old fan base, and try to attract more poeple like myself, who value musicianship over gimmicks and (guitar)tricks? Also, is it just me, or is there a sort of Opeth vibe going on in songs like Gehenna, Snuff and Dead Memories? Cause to me, those songs are just amazing. Thanks for taking the time to read my boring, long, question. And if you do decide to answer it, please just dont give a one word answer. I really wanna know your opinions. Thanks.
Amy responds:
Join the club. This column gets thousands of questions a week. It certainly is Slipknot, since Corey, Jim, Mick, Craig, Sid, Clown, Joey, Fehn and Paul made the record. They comprise Slipknot and they made the record, so it "IS" Slipknot. If you have listened to the self-titled and "Iowa," I think you will hear the record is a combo of the first record's melodicism and the second record's brutal, face fucking metal. I didn't hear any sort of Opeth'ian or prog vibe on any of those songs, either. Have you ever listened to V.3:(TSV)? There's total experimentation on that record and this album just sidesteps going experimental or softer in favour of full on brutality. As a Slipknot fan who has worked with the band for 4 albums, 2 DVDs and 7 years, I think "Psychosocial" is the best melodically metallic song since "Walk." And yes, that is my final answer!!

Question:
my ex bf stood me up at prom and I wanna beat the shit outta him. How should I do it?
Amy responds:
Um, fists don't solve much. Hit someone where it hurts and do something to knock him down a peg mentally. Like saying he has a small wee wee!

Question:
My name is Lucie and im from the UK. Im commited to coming to the US and doing an internship with Roadrunner, for free of course, i just really want some experience and i dont want to intern for anyone else but Roadrunner. Is there any possibility this can happen
Amy responds:
Go thru the proper channels, which isn't our website.

Question:
In the late 80's Roadrunner had a band by the name of MX Machine. How do I get their CD or does it even exist anymore. HELP!
Amy responds:
From our own Monte Conner:  It was a license from a U.S. label maybe Restless. If it's in print, amazon will have it.

Question:
if you have to choose one of the slipknot´s masks, what mask would you choose?
Amy responds:
Mick. B/c it's scary.

Question:
Amy does Roadrunner offer internships?
Amy responds:
Yes.

Question:
wtf happened to coal chamber??? Are we ever gonna see a comeback?
Amy responds:
They broke up YEARS ago. Go pick up a DEVILDRIVER record!

Question:
hi amy,,, nowadays i am searching for a band CD... i prefer they tasted similar like band such like DEVILDRIVER, or arch enemy, or maybe like the old slipknot... can you give me some reference?? i
Amy responds:
Is this a specific band? Or are you looking for something that sounds like a mash up of all 3 of those?

Question:
ANY WORD ON THE BAND GLASSJAW
Amy responds:
They are one of my faves. I *think* they are working on new material.

Question:
Hey Amy, just wondering what ever happened to Ether Seeds and their CD, was it ever offically released by Roadrun or anyone, or should I stay away from picking up a copy on Ebay?
Amy responds:
It never came out. We didn't release the album and I believe the band broke up shortly after. I must say, why would you plunk down your hard-earned cash (unless, of course, you are independently wealthy) on something that probably won't have any value since the band broke up and never put out an album?

Question:
brujeria, asesino, fear factory, or Divine heresy, which of these did dino grace the most in your opinion?
Amy responds:
Linguistically speaking, he graced them all. If you are asking which was his best, I'm going to have to go with The Factory of Fear.

Question:
I have a terrible case of blue ball. How will listening to Trivium help my situation?
Amy responds:
Get thee to a nunnery. Or at least a private room so you can relieve yourself.
