With 2011's In Waves Trivium hark back to their sophomore outing Ascendancy by mixing some early Metallica-inspired thrash-metal with progressive metal arrangements and the white-knuckled rage of modern metalcore. In Waves is also the first Trivium recording to feature the drumming of Nick Augusto who joined the Orlando, Florida quartet shortly after the departure of Travis Smith.
