Roadrunner "Ascendancy" - Trivium

Seldom do youth, passion and technical skill combine to create a work of such staggering musicality and intelligence as Trivium has done on their debut album for Roadrunner Records. Ascendancy is filled with carefully crafted songs that surge with energy, passion and originality. Like their solid 2003 debut Ember To Inferno , Ascendancy is rooted in '80s and 90's thrash, recalling the glory days of Metallica, Slayer, Pantera and Testament. But, the new disc doesn't stop there, incorporating aspects of melodic death metal and even prog-rock. Twin guitar harmonies and point/counterpoint dynamics abound, twisting around vocals that alternate from melodic and pained to caustic and full of rage . Featuring some of the youngest musicians in the genre (the lead singer/guitarist, Matt Heafy, is 18, and the oldest member is 22), Trivium hail from Orlando , FL and have produced an album as technical as quantum physics, as ferocious as a rabid pit-bull and as catchy as a spider-web drenched in syrup . Ascendancy will be released on March 15 th , 2005. They spent 2004 on the road with Iced Earth, Fear Factory, Chimaira, and Machine Head, God Forbid and others and you can catch them in '05 with All That Remains, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Danzig, Slipknot and the up-coming Road Rage tour which will also feature 3 Inches of Blood, Still Remains and The Agony Scene.
