I'm like wonderin' What is it all you guys want? This is new material from THE greatest Southern Rock Band of all time. They are still working. Only about 325 nights a year! Listen to the album. Go to a show. You were figgerin' they were'nt going to sound like Skynyrd. STFU and be thankful for all the blessings. If it didn't sound like Skynyrd you wouldn't be listening in the first place. And it is a blessing to hear something new. Hell, I've played the grooves off of every Van Zant, every re-release of every old album, just to hear some different Skynyrd, in a different order. Be thankful for every OLD tune and every new tune. Given a chance, and if the band includes them in the show, they'll be classics also. Now. It's been said. Quit crying. If you really listen to Still Unbroken and realize someone has the balls to title something GOD & GUNS in this day and time, you might quit lickin' your wounds and get up and start doin' somethin' right like calling your Congressmen. Or standing up for whatz right! Cause if you don't this may be the last time you even get to hold your own guns, or worship your own God as you see fit. This could be an anthem or a battle cry.

Again, you're talking to me, because Im the only one who you disagree with on this page. "STFU", "Quit crying".....How bout KMA.

I go into your personal attacks in a bit more detail in the "Play Now" page.

I like the song simple life, it comes over in a direct, simple and strong way. Fits to me into the roadrunner repertoire.
Cheers!

Ahhh...the simple life.....who thought it could be so....repetitve.

When JVZ says "Been there, done that", at Skynyrds live shows, he aint kidding.....but I didnt realize he was talking about his song lyrics.

In songs about the "simple life" by the JVZ era Skynyrd, the Ed King/JVZ collaboration, "Pure and Simple", from the "1991" album, said it first, and much, much better.

Did'nt they also "leave their doors unlocked" in the funky Ed King/JVZ penned "Kiss Your Freedom Goodbye", from the excellent "The Last Rebel" album?.

My point is, we've heard these cliches and simple sentiments from JVZ before....in much better songs. Im sorry, but this song sounds like "filler" material to me, and I dont like it. The guitar work is pedestrian, and I cant even hear a piano (maybe an organ). Whats up with that?

I know folks will think Im being too critical of the band, and I wish I heard it differently. You gotta admit (cmon, you can do it, its ok, its America!) this song is not as good as other offerings from Skynyrd, about the same subject. Im just not excited about this song. Im bored with the "Simple Life", I guess. Its a "been there, done that, heard it before" kind of thing.........and they "done it" better....years ago.

But hey, the good news is, theres still 11 songs left on the "God and Guns" album, so there is hope!
