Roadrunner "Radioactivist" - Red Tape
Red Tape
Radioactivist
Artist: Red Tape
Release Date: February 10, 2004
Chaos. That's the only word that needs to be mentioned when describing Red Tape's Roadrunner debut, Radioactivist. But we'll continue. Red Tape is an energetic group that aims at dismantling the institution from the inside out. Immediately, the names Refused, At the Drive-In, and Black Flag are conjured when the first gunshot blasts of "Damage Control" are heard. If you can't imagine Red Tape living up to the grand stature of its influences, one listen to Radioactivist will surely open your eyes.
"My generation without a name--" begins Radioactivist's title track. Red Tape have given an identity and more importantly, a new voice to a generation of those tired of the status quo.

OK, so nobody bought the thing. Right band, wrong label? I'd like to think it was suppressed by some right-wing record distribution cabal.
Probably not. So, do yourself a favor and discover this mean little gem of a record now.
The damn shame here is that Red Tape didn't set the world on fire. In a fair and just world world mainman Jeff Jaworski should be the Strummer of his day. Instead, he's currently found splitting duties between his own brainchild and bellowing with Sacto noise-core legends Will Haven.
The likes of "Stalingrad" will have you skateboarding to Havana whilst "Divebomb"is the kinda pit-anthem that no one has concocted in years. Yeah, this is hardcore -- not the kinda stuff that has kids Karate chopping each other but the good 'ol fashioned stock that makes you proud to dig out that old Circle Jerks shirt.
Hot damn! Let's slam! So what if Red Tape ended up as ghetto blaster fodder for some secret society? "Radioactivist!"is the transmission, the communique -- viva the Red Tape revolution!
