Double Drive hit Sonica Studios in Atlanta early last week. July 8th, to be exact. Their mission, to record their Roadrunner debut release. At one point in between takes this afternoon, vocalist Donnie called for a bit of an update. After nine days of recording (noon to 2am each day), the band will finish up tomorrow (07/19). That's 10 frickin' days to record an album, that's Deicide fast (if you remember, Deicide recorded In Torment In Hell during a span of five days). Well, we must clarify - Double Drive didn't record the full album in this time, but six tracks...still pretty quick, regardless. The band, coming to Roadrunner armed with an album already recorded, spent the past week + laying down four new tracks, along with two previously recorded tracks. Producers behind this effort, Michael Barbiero and Brian Mcternan. Brian's previous credits include Cave-In and The Movielife. Michael, well he happens to be the man who mixed the Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction release...need we say more? At one point during our update with Donnie, Double Drive's A&R Rep Ron Burman got on the horn, freshly banished from the control room. "The shit is comin' along," Ron relays with a southern drawl... Speaking of coming along, Double Drive will be coming to NYC next week to mix the goods. more to come...
