A couple of weeks before Slipknot's Madison Square Garden (Feb. 5, 2009) debut, my mom told me about our local paper, Newsday, had a contest that one can enter to win free tickets for the show. Meanwhile, I was already an Outside The Nine member (Slipknot's fan club) and reserved my presale tickets for the floor weeks prior to this. The reason I entered the mere contest was there were two parts of the contest, a grand prize winner and 29 runner ups. The grand prize consisted of a meet and greet with the band, a signed guitar by all the members, 2 free concert tickets as well as copy of the All Hope Is Gone album. The runner up winners would recieve 2 free concert tickets as well as a copy of All Hope Is Gone. After entering the contest, i sat back for awhile and one day i recieved an email saying i was a winner! But I won a runner up spot and not the grand prize. I spoke with the representative of the paper about the details of getting the prize etc. and chuckled in there is there anyway i can get the grand prize, and they said no we cant. So later on I sent an email to this person to see if i can get extra meet and greet passes and went on to explain to them that i was a MAGGOT! I told them that I have never met Slipknot before and i attached a photo of my tattoo (i also attached it to this email). I went on to explain to them that this is Slipknot's symbol and they mean so much to me, and if there was any chance in my lifetime to meet them this would be probably the only one. And i also mentioned to them that we have been customers of the paper for years now so that most definately helped. So days passed as i awaited a response and i was consistently following up and trying my best, and what do you know, my wish came true! They were able to get me additional passes to meet Slipknot! I cried!!! This was one of the happiest days of my life to find this out. But wait... theres more to the story! I was given direction to meet up with another paper representative at the show to get the passes for the meet and greet. So when we met up we were talking and i thanked her 50 times for this opportunity and it really made me happy. I then went on to ask if the grand prize winner was here, she said they didnt show up. I WAS LIKE WHAT ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Shes like nope they were a no show, so i went on to say jokingly so how about that guitar can i get it? Shes like well maybe we can work something out. My eyes are popping out of my head at this point. In five minutes im going to meet the band that has been there for me from thick and thin and now i may be able to get a signed guitar by all of them... WOW! So after the BEST SLIPKNOT SHOW I EVER SAW, i emailed them the next day thanking them for everything and of course reminding them about the guitar opportunity. So the weekend passes and i keep following up and then i get an email, Scott, the guitar is in i need you to come down to sign a waiver release to pick it up. At this point so many awesome things happened to me and i was in shock to know that this was really going to happen. So days later i picked up the guitar and it is now hanging in my room.

I understand this story/recap of the tour has given me SO much already and it may or may not warrant free stuff, but i have to say that not only did it make for an amazing story I will forever be a Maggot. To all my fellow maggots out there, you know what I am talking about when i say stay (sic).

I got to see Slipknot at the Madison Square Garden arena. It was there first time there, and it was one damn great first. it was also the first time i saw slipknot live too, so that's something new for me too. at the show, slipknot fucking rocked. Trivium and Coheed and Cambria were great, but slipknot stole the show. they rocked the place. when they came out, i couldn't stop screaming. i literally blew my mind when i saw them. they are great live, and sounded just like the album. The performance of their songs were great, and pretty much killed everyone there. i am a maggot, and slipknot rules the world.

I saw the guys at the Pepsi Collisium show in Indianapolis IN. The roads were icy that night so my friend and I missed Trivium. When Slipknot came on all hell broke loose. About five minutes into their set some jack-off elbowed me in the face and proceeded to mosh on me. He ended up getting his ass kicked because the guys around me were protective of everybody else. The rest of the show kicked ass. When it was over the guys were giving out drum sticks and guitar picks. I didn't realize that Paul had tossed one of his picks right next to me. Everyone started looking for the pick. It ended up right in front of me. I dropped down to get it and had about ten feet all on my hand. Everyone around me realized I wasn't giving it up so the helped me up. I got the pick and the asshole from earlier got the shit knocked out of him. Best show I have been to of their's in a long time.

I haven't missed a Slipknot show yet(even go in the orange jumpsuit). I ended up seeing them twice in the last couple of months, once at the Rockstar energy Drink Mayhem festival(before All Hope is Gone was released) in Mansfield Ma, and then in Boston recently after the album was released. Both shows were fucking awesome and i now have 2 new scars from the brutality of the mosh pit. Fucking Great Show Guys. Keep up the good work and I shall forever be a fan.
