CLOWN REFLECTS ON SLIPKNOT GRAMMY WIN
But the win was also bittersweet for percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan, who choked up as he spoke about his father passing away while the band was on tour. "I always knew that I was gonna lose my father," he said. "It was just hard to have that realization and have that sink in, because there's so much sacrifice you do to have your dream, it never ends and it can really hurt and it can cut in deep. But this is what we do, and this is what we were born to do, and my old man wouldn't want it any other way."
Slipknot has been nominated in the "Best Metal Performance" category for six consecutive years, but never took home the Grammy until now.
The band went on hiatus at the end of 2005 after nearly 18 months on the road in support of Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses).
Singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root are now recording the second album from their other band, Stone Sour, while "Clown" will make a new album with his side project, To My Surprise. Drummer Joey Jordison will tour this spring and summer with Ministry.
