WHO HERE PLAYS ROCK BAND?
Roadrunner Records, along with Harmonix and MTV Games announced yesterday the addition of the Roadrunner Records 6-pack to the Rock BandTM Music Store Catalog of Digital Content. The "Metal Band" pack is exclusively available starting yesterday via download on Xbox Live and is value priced for a limited time. The 6-pack features six artists from Roadrunner's diverse and widely respected hard rock roster, ranging from extreme metal (Machine Head, DevilDriver) to progressive rock (Dream Theater) to modern metalcore (Killswitch Engage) to Australian pub rock (Airbourne) to classic thrash (Megadeth).
The "track listing" for the six pack is as follows:

"Runnin' Wild" by Airbourne

"Clouds Over California" by DevilDriver

"Constant Motion" by Dream Theater

"My Curse" by Killswitch Engage

"Aesthetics Of Hate" by Machine Head

"Sleepwalker" by Megadeth

Each track will be available for $.99 (80 Microsoft points) for one month; the entire 6-pack can be purchased for $5.99 (480 points for Xbox360) for one month. On September 9th, prices will return to the normal 1.99 (160 Microsoft points) per track or $9.99 (800 Microsoft points) for the pack. Starting August 14, the same package will be available for PLAYSTATION.

A first for Roadrunner Records, this 6-pack offers something for rock fans of all different tastes and preferences in addition to providing a sampling of the label's impressive wares.



Also, Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy did an interview with Rock Band. He talked to about the band's formation at Berklee, their evolution over the years, DT classic "Panic Attack," hittng as an in-game track for Rock Band 2, and more.

Re-creating these songs for use in video games such as Rock Band or Guitar Hero requires a bit of work. As the album wasn't completely finished while the download pack was in development, it would have been impossible to get it in there.

Also, when you think about it, at the time the download pack was being created, "Psychosocial" wasn't yet released so there was no demand for it yet. Hence no inclusion in the download pack. People tend to want to play songs they know.
