Absolutely a regular feature here on the site now - "LESSONS FROM THE SILVER SIDE", a look at what is going on with Nickelback and their latest release Silver Side Up... Much to go over this week, so before we get to the facts, as always we'll with talk about where you can see Nickelback. Tour - Nickelback is officially 2 dates into their US headline tour which features Default and Saliva (who will be joining the tour on 11/10). For full date details on this tour, make sure to check out our Silver Side Tour feature. Speaking of this tour, keep your eyes peeled for a shake down at the shows. Starting tonight (11/01) in Boise, Nickelback will be asking for a nickel back at their merch table. Well, not necessarily a nickel, but whatever you can spare. All money donated at the shows will be presented and given to "The New York Firefighter 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund" (IAFF) during their show on 11/30 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. It's a great cause, please give what you can. by the way, did we mention that this will be Nickelback's 2nd show EVER in NYC? It's true. Their first and only was back on April 5, 2000. On the topic of seeing Nickelback, soon you will be able to see them in a new video. This past weekend in Vancouver, the band shot their performance footage for the track "Too Bad" off Silver Side Up. The plot portions of the video, those not requiring the band, will be shot over the September 9th weekend, also in Vancouver. Word is the plot behind the video is to be true to life with the meaning of the song. The casting calls are going on now... And now that you've been properly briefed, onto the facts. And as always, all are true. The facts we present to you this week are as follows: Random Fact #17 - this is one of those 'not to get too corporate on your ass' facts, but one that has to be mentioned. A radio exec here was quoted a couple weeks ago saying NB's track "How You Remind Me" was now 'in the stratosphere'. Well, a couple weeks later this song is still the #1 played song on Mainstream, Modern, Active, and Heritage Rock formats for now the 9th, 8th, 5th, and 3rd weeks in a row, respectively. And don't mean to burst your bubble, but this is actually starting to be embraced by Top 40 formats too...should we have just written that??? Random Fact #18 - remember Random Fact #14 from part V of this series? The one about the truck with the "NKL BCK" license plate driving down the road cranking Nickelback? Well, apparently the truck's owner reads this site. Her name is Sherry and she writes the following: "That is my truck that Josh saw! I have a personalized TEXAS plate that says "NKL BCK." I live in the Clear Lake Area of Houston, and that was probably my husband driving my truck. I took a picture of it so I will put one in the mail to you tomorrow. I don't have a way to post it on the net. I told Chad about it at the New Orleans show and he said he wanted to see it, so make sure you show it to him next time he is in the studio. It is not the best picture, but I tried! Oh, by the way, Nickelback is always blasting out of my truck!" Thanks for the line Sherry. What a small world it is. Keep checking back for the photo...once we receive it... Random Fact #19 - word is that the "How You Remind Me" video has been put into X-LARGE rotation on VH-1, their highest rotation. The research? #1 with the 18-25 year olds & #2 with those 25-40. Apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree... Random Fact #20 - remember Random Fact #6? Sent in by Las Vegas Road Crew Member Sidney? The one wherein she tells of Nickelback being played in Las Vegas strip clubs? A personal favorite Random Fact, ya? Well, Sidney writes in again, this time about something she read in the Las Vegas Review-Journal. In an article titled A DAY WITH OLYMPIAN TASHA SCHWIKERT: Keeping Her Balance, Tasha tells that one of her favorite bands is Nickelback. Her favorite song, however, is from Incubus. It's not just strippers anymore, apparently Olympians like Nickelback too... Oh, Tasha also likes Scary Movie I and II. It's true. Random Fact #21 - one more random fact for the day? On 10/30, the start date for this current tour, Nickelback played a couple acoustic songs for a radio station the day of their show. Word is there were some technical difficulties, which just meant that, as one person present for the performance puts it, "we had the pleasure of hearing Chad relay a pretty hysterical story about a German incident!" Not sure what that means, but enjoy guessing... Everything you have read is true. If you have a Nickelback random fact, drop us a line. Until next time, the has been a Lesson From The Silver Side... new release Silver Side Up in stores now
