Time for our weekly visit into the archives of Roadrunner Records, The Roots Of Roadrunner Records. First, honorable mention goes out to Exhorder this week, whose 2 From The Vault series release of the combined Slaughter In The Vatican and The Law, increased in sales this past week. Did You Know? Exhorder's 2 From The Vault release was actually the top selling piece after first week sales from this series back on September 9th. True. However, the King Diamond offering from this series takes the top selling honor this week. AND NOW, onto the Best Of... series of releases. This week's spotlight shines down on hardcore experts, Madball. For this Best Of Madball release, Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta supplied words for the liner notes. Some of his writings on Madball are as follows: "When I was asked to write something for this record, I was honored. I thought long and hard about what I could say that would sum up my feelings for a band that I consider one of the best of all time. "I have to start by saying that there probably isn't a Madball song I don't like...I swear, I own everything Madball ever released...I don't think there will ever be another band to bring metal elements into the classic NYHC sound the way they did. It was hard, is was real and it was violence-inducing - THE WAY HARDCORE SHOULD BE. "Madball was a band I could relate to. As a singer I always admired Freddy's presence. On and off the stage, it doesn't get any truer than him. One of the greatest periods of my life on the road was spent with Madball, and to this day, some of those shows and the mayhem that ensued before and after, hold up as the most insane things I have ever seen. Few albums can hold up to theirs...I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I have over the years. Play it loud!!!!"
