Dream Theater frontman James LaBrie was interviewed by RockRevolt magazine recently, and you can read the whole piece online now. He talks about the writing process, why the album is self-titled, and much more.
Says LaBrie of the songwriting for Dream Theater, "There were a couple of ideas that came from sound checks, where someone would riff out on an idea, and if it felt and sounded really good, we would document it...we documented several ideas and seeds to songs that we didn't even get around to. The funny thing about that is that we would say, 'We can always come back to them,' but the joke is that we know by the time we are in the studio working on another album, we will be somewhere else musically, and who knows if those ideas will still have any relevance."
