It should come as no surprise to anyone that Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini plays a big kit. But when the guys from asked him to break it down for them, in an installment of their popular "Rigged" column, even they weren't expecting it to require multiple posts to encompass everything he hits or steps on during the course of a Dream Theater show or recording session.

Here's a link to Part 1, where he discusses everything pedal-operated (bass drums and hi-hats) and his snare drums (yes, there are a few).

Here's a link to Part 2, where he takes you through his cymbals and toms.

And finally, here's a link to Part 3, which deals with electronics and other trickery.

At the end of this epic journey, Mangini sums it all up by saying, "Drums are fun. Setting them up is fun. Hitting stuff is fun." We see his point.
