Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini was recently interviewed by Zoiks! Online (a humor site that's incorporating music content lately; check out their recent talk with Machine Head's Robb Flynn). He had some interesting things to say about fan response to his joining the group, particularly as it relates to their current tour.

Says Mangini, "there are people who have seen the show and then there are people who have not seen the show, so you have to divide them into two distinctly different groups. A lot of times the people who haven't seen it have more to say, but they haven't seen it, so I don't know what that is all about sometimes. The people that have seen it, by the third song they are making me feel so welcome that it has transformed everything for me to another level."

During the wide-ranging interview, Mangini discusses his kit, the difference between Dream Theater and other bands he's played with (Extreme, Annihilator and others), and talks about his early influences. It's in-depth and interesting, so read the whole thing at this link.
