What were you doing back in 1998? Well, that year we signed a band called Earth Crisis. Heard of them? Well, in our quest to create an ARTIST PAGE for each and every past artist ever on Roadrunner Records, we bring you the Earth Crisis ARTIST PAGE. (yes, be expecting more artists to come at a more rapid pace, as we want to get all up, and share with you Roadrunner's past which still lives in the company today) Speaking of Roadrunner's past living in the company today, the A&R Rep (Mike Gitter) whom signed this band is still with us, and has the following words offer from this band he previously signed: Breed The Killers was as brutal and uncompromising a record as anything Syracuse Vegan warlords, Earth Crisis, could have given to Roadrunner in 1998. The frantic chord changes of their 1996 classic, Gommorah's Season Ends had settled down into catchier rock dynamics with frontman Karl Buechner growling out an illuminati-shattering sentiment with trademark coarseness and bile. Earth Crisis was a criminally misunderstood bunch, much more politically articulate and socially aware than most had ever given them credit for being. The album's title track, "Breed The Killers" took a shot straight at multinational business concerns, secret societies and behind-the-veil conspiracies that have undermined personal freedoms for hundreds of years. "Ultramilitance" was a call for direct action in the war to maintain bio-diversity in the world. Yes, they are talking about sinking whaling ships here. Certainly Rage Against The Machine would approve. After Breed The Killers, Earth Crisis returned to their original label, Victory for one final LP, Slither. Produced by Steve (Sepultura, Hatebreed) Evetts, Slither continued to add rock dynamics and an unprecedented degree of Ozzy-like vocal melody from the normally coarse Karl. It was also the logical conclusion for Earth Crisis. They had been going for nearly a decade and it was time to move on. Currently, both drummer Dennis Merrick and guitarist Scott Crouse are pursuing their rock inclinations with a new band while Karl as well as bassist Bulldog continue their sonic struggle in a new group called Nemesis. So, this is the start of the Earth Crisis page on Roadrunner Records. It will build over time...AND, if you have anything to add, please drop us a line via email. Both the songs which Mike spoke of in the above can now be found in our MUSIC section. Enjoy. more to come...
