For this bi-weekly session of Friday Night Videos, we pull out a very important cornerstone from Roadrunner's history. How important? The Production Gospel According To Dave clearly states "there are those who hold the belief that Roadrunner Records might not have leaped into the US metal market so successfully and so early in its storied history, if at all, had it not been for this artist." The artist in which the above refers to is none other than King Diamond. Originally he came to Roadrunner in a band called Mercyful Fate - an extremely influential black metal band. Though they only produced 2 studio LP's (plus one of b-sides and out takes), their mark can still be heard in the music you hear today (Metallica frequently cites them as a main influence). Eventually, King Diamond went on and formed a band under his own name, which achieved even greater success. However, enough about history for now - you can read that all over our site this weekend. Let's just take this moment to welcome the King Diamond ARTIST page to the site. If you look through it, the BIO up there is taken from the liner notes of Mercyful Fate's first release. We will be updating the bio in chronological history...keep checking back... Also back is the previous King Diamond Wildcard feature, a complete DISCOGRAPHY, PHOTO GALLERY, and more... Oh, and the videos...For the first time ever here on the Roadrunner site, we now have King Diamond's "Welcome Home" video from the 1988 release Them. And if you look closely, you will also see the "Sleepless Nights" video from the 1989 release Conspiracy. All can be found in the VIDEO section. Check it out, more to come...
