Kenny Wayne Shepherd released his first in a string of platinum albums while still in high school, and four Grammy nominations, two Billboard Music Awards and millions of albums sold later, he's already accomplished so much, and yet still strives to reach more.
With his latest offering Live! In Chicago, Shepherd tapped blues legends like Hubert Sumlin, Brian Lee, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith and more to join him and his band on stage in an ode to the once-dubbed "devil's music." But this immortalized show wasn't just a one-time thing, it actually followed right on the heels of a special journey Shepherd embarked on a year prior where he went through the south, played with blues legends at their houses and in their neighborhoods, and filmed the whole thing as a documentary called 10 Days Out: Blues From the Backroads.
In the video below, Kenny tells us a little bit about that experience, how it led to the show that was recorded for Live! In Chicago, and the hapless circumstances that almost resulted in the show not going on!
