As voted on by 6,500 drummers worldwide, Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy has taken home the 2010 Drummies Award for Progressive Rock Drummer and Slipknot's Joey Jordison has taken home the Drummies Award for Metal Drummer.

Created by Enter Music Publishing, the Drummies are a 15-plus-year-running annual awards poll honoring drummers who made a contribution in the previous year, and inspired others to want to play better.

Featuring 40 categories and set to unveil a Drummie Hall of Fame next year for repeated winners (including Portnoy and Rush's Neil Peart among others), stay tuned right here for more information on these awards.

Join us in congratulating our Drummies winners by seeing Portnoy and Jordison live this summer! Mike just wrapped Dream Theater's run supporting Iron Maiden on The Final Frontier Tour, and will embark on the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival this August drumming for Avenged Sevenfold, while Joey is drumming for Rob Zombie on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.
