Born from the evil throes of Tampa, Florida in 1985, this band of Tardy brothers scared the ever living sh*t out of headbangers around the world with their groundbreaking combination of horrific growls, muddy production, ripping guitars and morbid imagery and lyrics.  That's why this week's Opening the Crypts is in the name of Obituary, one of American death metal's founding fathers.

Having lived out most of their career on Roadrunner Records, Obituary put out some iconic albums from 1989 until their departure from the label in 2005. While the legendary band continues to release albums today, we want to spotlight the title-track from their 1994 release World Demise. Because in a time when death metal began to change in the musical landscape, it's cool to look back and see these guys kept their torch lit.

Listen below and check back every Friday evening to hear another killer track from our extensive history.
