The legendary Dutch festival Roadburn will be held this weekend, beginning Thursday, April 10 and ending Sunday, April 13, and Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth was asked by the founder, Walter Hoeijmakers, to curate one of the nights—Friday, April 11! Among the bands he selected were French prog legends Magma; UK doom-folk pioneers Comus; Italian horror soundtrack-meisters Goblin; up-and-coming death metal crew Obliteration; doom legends Candlemass; and more. Opeth themselves will be performing as well. In the exclusive interview clip above, Mikael discusses the festival, how the offer came about, and whether the band will be performing new material from their upcoming 11th studio album, due out later this year. Watch now! To learn more about Mikael's thoughts on the festival and the lineup he picked, visit the Roadburn site.
