Jan 12th - Jan 21 marked the days covering the third annual Rock In Rio festival. Acts from all over, including Foo Fighters, Guns N Roses, Papa Roach, Oasis, Deftones, and Red Hot Chili Peppers came to play...even teen acts such as Britney Spears and 'NSync played! (I can't believe their names are now mentioned on this site!). But, Friday the 19th marked the night that Sepultura played, their first show in their native land of Brazil since 1999 (first ever in Brazil with Derrick). The crowd they played in front of that night tallied in at about 200,000. I heard an interesting story from the night during the song "Sepulnation", a bit of a ruckus...apparently during this song, some fan was getting man handled by security. At which point the whole band stopped playing and went to help the kid out and free him from the guard's donut greased palms! If ANY of you saw the show, write up a review on the IN THE PIT section and let us all know about it. I will try to get some footage from the show up shortly. In the meantime, there is a new Sepultura photo in their PHOTO GALLERY, the 2001 Press Shot! While there, you might just win some autographed Sepultura goods...you'll see what I mean. Also, for a track listing of the show and such, check out www.sepultura.com.br for more info. The other acts on the bill the night Sepultura played included Iron Maiden, Halford (Judas Priest), and Queens Of The Stone Age.
