dateline - April 9th, 2002 - items of interest for the day: 1 - Jerry Cantrell. For some reason, we have been getting many emails saying "I heard that the Cantrell release may be pushed back. We have waited long enough, PLEASE tell me that is not true." Well, here we go - what you 'heard' is not true. In fact, just the opposite, if anything. Jerry Cantrell's debut Roadrunner release, Degredation Trip, is still scheduled for a June 25th release, as originally stated. If anything, that date might be pushed up one week in time to June 18th...quite the opposite of being pushed back. Oh, and if fancy, take a peek at the cover for this bad boy - CLICK HERE. 2 - Dry Kill Logic. Megadeth dead, but still lives on. Check this out - Dry Kill Logic spent this past weekend in "pre-production sessions" with former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson. True. What came of this collaboration? More to come... 3 - Slipknot, Deicide. Take one walk by the desk of the man behind The Production Gospel According To Dave, and you will see two pics hanging on the wall - an 8x10 glossy of Deicide, and a photo of him with 3 members from Slipknot (taken during the dvd shoot in the UK). As Dave tells, "they are the two most real bands I know." How fuckin' real? Try this on for size: - Glen Benton (vocals, Deicide) has an upside down cross branded on his forehead. - Sid (turntables, Slipknot), seen in the pic giving the sign of the devil, has four letters tattooed across the knuckles of his left hand. They read K-I-L-L. Now that is hands down 'REAL'. We like to call it S.S.P. - Standard Scarification Procedure. 3.5 - Anyone. Speaking of 'REAL', Anyone has an anthem of a song called "Real" on their self titled debut release, OUT NOW. Oh, and their vocalist/guitarist has a pretty bad assed tattoo on the top of his right hand. But don't take my word for it, do yourself a favor and pick up the album. 4 - Killswitch Engage. And because Marketing Matt missed it the first time we wrote this on the site, we shall repeat it once again - KsE singer Jesse Leach has a sizeable acting role in the film "Outside Providence", which was written by "Something About Mary" directors, the Farrelly Brothers. His character is perpetually stoned throughout the movie. And why did Matt happen to bring that fact up today? He was looking for someone to direct the upcoming KsE video for the track "My Last Serenade" - yes, a video is in the works. Matt figured 'why not the Farrelly Brothers?' See, he mistakenly thought they were the uncles of Jesse. Not true. Besides, the Farrelly Brothers are busy on another project. Expect a KsE video in house sometime in early May. True.
