Canada's answer to Metallica? The Eddie Van Halen of thrash metal? Both these terms could have easily applied to Annihilator and its mastermind, lead guitarist and songwriter Jeff Waters. A fan of both speed metal and classic rock, the Canadian emphasized a flair for both blasting out chugging, precise, dizzyingly intricate riffs with fluidity, power, and style, yet effortlessly switching to a beautifully melodic lead or shimmering acoustic bridge at a moment's notice. The Best Of Annihilator takes the listener back to the early days of the classic thrash metal sound, compiling cuts from the band's first three studio albums, a rarities collection, and a live disc - all of which emerged on Roadrunner between 1989 and 1996.
